Currently waiting on the finance guy song and dance. We have amazing credit so only potential hang-up is we refinanced our house 26hrs ago.

It’s a 2016 Sedona with every potential bell and/or whistle.

The dogs will appreciate more breathing room.

Anyone want to buy a stick shift Spark?

Updates to come.

Excellent and wise move.  Those are good looking vans.

If it’s the DI 3.3, walk away. My mother’s was just replaced at 70k miles after listening to Hyundai’s maintenance intervals. There is DI carbon build up, and then there is Hyundai carbon build up. Her’s lost compression due to chunks of carbon breaking off and wrecking the pistons. That was a couple of months ago. Now it’s in for a transmission replacement.

I think I’ve finally convinced them to jump ship before the CPO warranty is up.

Let’s talk soon. I’m looking for something to take the place of my 2003 Odyssey, and I’m not happy with the latest Honda offerings.

They clearly have high hopes because they’re washing it now.

So what made you choose Sedona over Sienna or Odyssey, or Pacifica ?

Bah, I don’t get the hate for vans! I’m a car guy sure, but vans have their place and are super practical....I also think the Sedona is one of the best looking ones out there right now!

They got any Stingers there? I really want to try out a Base Model Stinger.

If I was going to get a van, it’d be a Sedona. I like them a lot.

They use them as taxis in South Korea and several have over 500,000 miles.

The Sedona was our second choice behind the Pacifica. We got the Pacifica, mostly for the stow and go seats, as my wife plays the harp.

We thought the Sedona drove well and looked great. The stereo was one of the only ones I've heard that does a good job playing organ music, for whatever that's worth.   An SX-L Sedona will be a very nice place to be.

My wife feels like the Kia looks less “van like” for one.

Plus for an equivalently equipped Toyota or Honda we would’ve spent at least another $2500. I couldn’t find an equivalently equipped Pacifica, but the prices I found on lesser equipped models was close enough to the same that it would’ve been more as well.

A big factor is we got them to throw in the extra warranty coverage that gives us bumper to bumper coverage till May 2026 or 120,000 miles.

Our primary spaces needs were two large dogs and a taller than average 13yo boy. This should work well for me.

Looking less “van like” was one of the factors in getting my wife to consider it.

My wife was initially against the van. Then she realized the Sedona doesn’t looks as “van like” as she had pictured.

Plus she realized the whole reason we’re looking is to help transport two large dogs, and the load height of an SUV would’ve meant lifting an 80lbs dog into the vehicle.

Also, due to the 2.4 fiasco, they never have loaners. Luckily my parents have 3 vehicles, because they’ve been without a loaner for a few weeks in total.

I now have 1hr and 15 miles of Sedona ownership under my belt and am happy to offer my expert opinion.

I will gladly answer any questions I can though.

They only had two and one was on hold. I checked the other out while we waited for finance guy to be ready for us.

In 3 years we may replace my car, and a used Stinger is a possibility.

My wife is going to figure that out. It includes aftermarket wheels, the OEM Steelies with hubcaps, and if anyone is interested it can include three snow tires.

The snow tires were on the aftermarket wheels but one was destroyed and my wife was on a trip far enough south that the warehouses didn’t stock snow tires.

Were either of them base models? Those have a 205-hp four-cylinder. I wouldn’t want all the added-on junk of the Sport models.

There are occasionally opinions expressed by a wife that her husband does not question if he hopes to get any action in the foreseeable future.

This opinion falls in that category because I was always of the opinion that a minivan was a good fit for our needs.

Width wise probably, but it actually has a pretty tall roof so perhaps not height wise.

That question reminds me of the visit I made to Pigeon Forge, TN during the yearly hot rod show. There was a guy driving around with a Messerschmitt microcar for sale that was in the bed of his truck. He found a buyer that was also driving a truck. They parked the trucks tailgate to tailgate.  Three guys climbed into the sellers truck, picked it up, and carried it into the other truck bed.

It is a 3.3. Thankfully they threw in bumper to bumper coverage to 2026 or 120,000 miles. If we have the same issue it’ll be gone before then.

Good luck, but 100% take it somewhere else to get an ACTUAL carbon cleaning done every 40k miles or so. Hyundai’s recommended maintenance was a liquid treatment, which didn’t do jack shit. By 60k miles, the valves were doubled in size from carbon. Also, getting them to warranty it is a pain in the ass. The trans feels like you are dumping a clutch(not a DCT) whenever you are at low speeds, then slips when accelerating in lower gears. The warranty guy said it wasn’t broken. Finally they sent another guy out, and confirmed it needed a new one. So it’s needed an engine and a trans before 75k miles, following their maintenance intervals.

Hyundai achieved something I never though was possible, my father admitting I was right. I told them it would need an engine before 70k miles, and they’d regret their purchase. Sure enough, it’s happened.
