Time to head down to the old watering hole for a cold one.

Got any big plans for the weekend? Looks like we’re going to be hanging out inside again the weekend. Mrs Ttyymmnn has lots of work to get caught up on, and t he Covid is blowing up again. Summer starts officially next week, but our summer has been going on for the last three months already. We were supposed to leave for Disneyland tomorrow. Oh well.

Y’all have a great weekend.

Mud, mud, glorious mud. I finished my retaining wall last week: now I have to put drainage along the bottom and backfill it. Most of that’s shovel work unfortunately: can’t get the tractor close enough because trees.

Also half the stuff I need to put some additional gauges in the 86 turned up, so I can at least unpack and fondle it

Ordered an inflatable boat from Amazon that should arrive tomorrow. I found an easy boat ramp at the lake so I can take the wife out in the evening and get some exercise.

Weekends and weekdays have melded into a continuum for me.  They all contain some work and some breaks from work. I’ve managed most days to include a bike ride, either in the morning before the heat or in the evening hours just before sunset. I’ve been racking up the miles like never before. Too bad I can’t say the same for my productivity.

The weather is, once again, supposed to be pretty much crap so I’m going to try to get the yard mowed as soon as I can get out of work in order to beat the rain but after that it’s going to be a pretty laid back weekend. I might even see if I can figure out why the Camaro’s fuel gauge reads way too high.

Yup... it’s Friday... ONE DAY CLOSER TO MONDAY!!!!

“Got any big plans for the weekend?”

My plans aren’t anything big. Just visiting the GF... will probably go for a bike ride with her. Do some stuff around the house.

Oh and my might decide to go by a car... she’s settled on the Hyundai Elantra GT... the one with the preferred package, 2L 4cyl and 6 speed auto.

I’m greatly hoping that my car is back in proper running order, I need to connect the battery and go on a test drive. If that all goes well, more driving. I am supposed to sell my old suspension tomorrow which is fantastic to get some more money in my pocket and recoup costs of other fixes. Other than that probably some disc golf, mountain biking, and maybe go fishing I haven’t done that in a while.

It’s all sort of a blur for me. I know it’s the weekend because 1) I start drinking, and 2) I don’t have to get up early. I usually get up with my wife, since she has to be working by 8:00. She did take a couple of afternoons off this week, and we volunteered at the Central Texas Food Bank. Despite the hard work, it was nice to get out. The ASO was hoping to do a virtual Fourth of July concert, recording the show in late June, but it looks like the Covid spike in TX will put the kibosh on that. Which means we won’t play until Labor Day at the earliest. I do have a gig coming of on July 4 though, with a brass quintet playing patriotic music outside of an old folks’ home. That should be rewarding, and I’ll get a bit of money too.

My son is working on getting his license, and while he has a prescribed log of driving he has to do for the state, we also go out driving just for the experience, with no particular place to go. He’s getting competent enough that we can play some tunes and I can relax, so these afternoons are actually turning into pretty nice little 1-2 hour  road trips. Maybe we’ll go out again this weekend.

I’ve been drinking far more than I used to as well. I actually had to put a stop to it. Also, the cabin fever for my teenager is real and is driving me to drink more.

It must be frustrating for you, not being out of work, but yet not being able to really work.

It’s always so nice to go on a drive with no destination and to be comfortable with your driver. A t 30 m y mother still gets unreasonably terrified when I’m driving.

More computer tweakage, as usual. Got another 32GB for the workstation, and a few cheap older GPUs (GTX 650 Ti, 660 and 770) so that I can bring another folding machine online. Sold off a huge box of DVR circuit boards to a recycler for lunch and dinner money, but in digging them out of my home office I made what was a very messy room even messier so I need to address that first.

Kinja'd!!!

If it cools down I’d like to wash my car and remove some of the crap I’ve been hauling around for months; there’s a chair that’s been in there since October, for example. I also need to check some vent system components that are causing it to fire up the ol’ money light. It was a P0442 but then morphed into a P0455, but I know what to check and where I probably need to fire the parts cannon. Since day one, when filling the car I always go for two more squeezes of the handle after it shuts off. By doing that I think I’ve damaged the valve to the charcoal canister; the video I watched, which was on the same exact car, showed how to fix the P0442 so I hope the same fix also cures the P0455 (small EVAP leak that morphed into a large leak). Then I need to do the rear brakes. I need to buy some jack stands, but for obvious reasons don’t want to go to Hazard Frought. I can always reset the CEL before the safety inspection, but the brakes can’t be put off so easily and are a bigger concern.

Going in for a skating “training” session tomorrow after 3+ months off the ice. I hope I am able to walk at the end of it. I can tell the rink org leadership is terrified about any kind of hot spot taking place on their property, rules and regulations out the wazoo.

Sunday the Juneuary rain just might stop long enough to get the fintail out, but I am not betting on it.

My building is still somewhat empty so us die hards are having an italian festa on the roof deck. I just had hernia surgery this morning, so inspired by the woman who, during brain surgery fully awake, prepped 90 ascolanta olives. Saturday, I am doing a variation.

I’m not going to make that many[!] and stuff them with prosciutto. Buf alo mozzarella pomodoro salad, bruschetta, plus two bottles of Primitivo . Also I’m bringing a lovely Italian friend , Mariarosa.

I did want to do a drive-in with a projector and screen, but it gets dark so late....

Thats like an amazing photo. The flash units/bulbs had to have been low on the unseen rear of the bar [see the fan/fixtures shadows  on the ceiling?].  Amazing exposure.  And those faces!  What a bunch of rounders!  Is that one dude chugging hot sauce?

I have a couple old pedal bikes, one with dad brakes, one with a bad shifter, I would like to get one or both in operating condition so I can exercise (walking too easy, running to o hard, biking just right).

I am supposed to be looking into putting a natural gas fire pit on our patio, but now that it is hot my heart is not in it.

Depending on what I find out and my wife’s mood may go look at a Porsche 924S.

Was thinking of hiking this weekend but it’s supposed to rain pretty good through mid next week. Sigh. At least that makes good weather for running, so I’ll get some good exercise anyway.

Also have to figure out how much it’ll cost to repaint and re-gutter my house... And hopefully get a couple estimates from pros. I’m good with  doing the painting but doing prep work suuuuucks.

The other day I was listening to a website that streams music from the 20s and 30s (and a bit before). I was then reminded that it was such happy music at a time when the country was going through a flu epidemic.

Breweries open up today at 50% capacity on outdoor patios only. I found my way to the (really good) one about 1000ft from my office after work. Like anywhere I go in Las Cruces, there were people I knew there also partaking.

It felt a bit like this.

My wife and I are going to look at that Nissan 200sx tomorrow morning.  If I can swing a good deal, and it’s not a complete shit box, it might be my sons first car. And yes, I’ve heard the arguments against, but I have my reasons.  After that, lots of yard work. The shrubbery must be pruned back.

Sadly that seems to be the fate of a lot of formally cheap local brews. They get “discovered” and suddenly something that was $4 for a 6 pack is at least double it’s old price.
