Is there an independent site that does windshield wiper fit information? The typical fit guides and even manufacturers fit guides are failing me. I’ve run into this before with my Volt because it had a left and right blade which are different and most manufacturers claim one blade fits both; they don’t.
I tried to order a new rear blade for my wife’s 2017 Spark. According to two fit guides, one of which was from the blade manufacturer, I ordered the right blade. Not only is it the wrong size, but the mount isn’t right.
This is the old blade. See that slot by my finger? There’s a piece on the wiper arm that goes into that slot. The supposed correct blade doesn’t have that slot. I’ve looked at two other supposedly right blades, and they don’t have it either.
I checked a Spark forum, and they say the only model they’ve found that actually fits is by Michelin. Guess what, that blade has been discontinued.
I don’t know what brand the current wiper arm is. Are refills universal? If so I’ll just replace the rubber and be done with it.

The just rubber refills are pretty universal. I haven’t used one in over a decade though so it may have changed.
I’d take the wiper into oreillys and check the rubber refills against what you have and while it’ll take some more elbow grease that should do it.

I’ll have to call around and see if I can find refills. I used to buy refills pretty regularly but stopped because several places only do them by special order.

Did you find any spark forums?

My local parts stores don’t sell refills any longer, good luck!

The model they found that actually fits is discontinued.

Now that I think about it - it was in highschool that I last used a refill so 15 years ago. Saved me like $8 so it was worth it then but haven’t done it since...

Bosch?

Rock auto lists two options, but you can’t really rely on their pictures to know what you are getting . I find it weird the guides would be wrong, though sometimes replacements mount differently than OEM. Car seems too new for this to be the case, but any chance the wiper arm isn’t original ?

No, it’s the original arm. The folks on the forum that mentioned issues all referred to the lack of that slot even on one’s that supposedly were right.

The one I bought that didn’t work is Bosch. That was my first thought because Bosch is often the OEM blade from GM.

I guess you’ll have to get OEM then :(

Hmm the last wipers I bought had inserts so that they would work with different mounting styles. Maybe look in the box to see if they include those? Most of them are easy to open so it’s not like you are going to ruin the packaging. Might end up just having to take the old wiper in and compare.
Thanks for the reminder that I need new wipers.

I never had issues with the guides until I got my Volt. Most guides on it are useless and claim the wipers are the same. The passenger side uses a special mount that not everyone makes. You can make a right blade work if you don’t mind taking a dremel to the new blade.

The issue is the body of the OEM blade has a slot that the replacement doesn’t. The mount on the blade I ordered is molded into the body; it’s just a simple post. If the body would work the mount is correct.

Yes rear wipers are a PITA in a lot of cars. I ordered one for my MINI and it came wrong. Had to get one at the dealer $$$.

That’s what I was hoping to avoid. The dealer wants more for a rear blade than I payed for both for the front.

The OEM service PN for a 2017 Spark rear wiper is 95391371 and has a dealer parts counter list price of about $15, or you can buy it from here for $9: https://www.gmpartsdirect.com/oem-parts/gm-wiper-blade-95391371
If you wanted a new wiper arm to go with it that is PN 95391372 and is here for $7 https://www.gmpartsdirect.com/oem-parts/gm-wiper-arm-95391372

I’ve run into a similar issue before, where the aftermarket blade just didn’t have a slot big enough to a ttach to t he arm, despite being supposedly compatible according to a fitment guide. ( And yes, the fitment guide pointed to this EXACT part number, not just going by mere length.)
Instead of ordering blades, you might want to try a local parts store. Many of them offer free wiper blade installation, so you can let them go through the hassle of seeing what they have in stock that will fit. Heck, since they change wiper blades so often on so many cars, you might even find someone there who knows what you need right off the top of their head.
