After one t oo many sketchy moments with my rhino tray rack. I was looking at 1Up, thule xt and just which have very stable 2 bike options. However once you go past 2 bikes, trays become a liability. I’m usually riding with 5 people which means we take 2 to 3 cars unless someone has a pickup. I realized I should just get a 5 bike recon rack because I hav e used my friends for years with no problems on fireroads and carbon bikes. They never fell off and the load unload takes seconds. Bonus is they are an hour from my house and cody makes them himself. You can also use it as an impromptu stand for cleaning and quick maintenance.

I also have 400 miles now on the druid and I absolutely love it.

What is the lighter colored bike? I’ve not seen a front sprocket set up like that.

I do sort of wish my car had a hitch for a rack. Obviously I could add one, but given the cost, I feel like I’d be better putting that money in my “ get a wagon” fund. Though of course I might still want on a wagon, despite more ability to just throw stuff in the back.

It’s an idler pulley to reroute the chain. It is placed so they can use that wild suspension, otherwise the chain would hit the chain stay of the bike.

It is a Forbidden druid with the high pivot idler. The big advantage is no pedal kickback and the wheel base grows under full compression so the ride is very stable in big hits and corners. The drawback is more moving parts so a touch more drag. I think the tradeoff is worth it though for where I live. I put a coil front and rear instead of air shocks as well, that is more personal preference as the air shock on this bike is more than adequate.

I love hitches this thing is pretty heavy since it is all steel.   T he GLE has the frame welded hitch so it handles it with ease.

I’m a big fan of coils as well. With reservoir you hardly notice the downsides.

I think** the biggest difference is wheel base growth but honestly all bikes are so good right now that most of it is minor differences. They all shred

I like my roof top bike rack, it works pretty well (and was CHEAP) and I don’t tend to go through drive thrus or into parking garages often enough to worry about it. But my miata bike rack is way cooler and freer considering its   multipurposeness.

I had a bike launch off my roof rack on a fire road at 5mph and onto the front of my car. After that it’ll never be up there. Like running through a plate glass door, only once

Cool! Thanks for the explanation! I've never actually ridden a bike with a suspension, it must be pretty wild.

After 4 years of getting my butt kicked more every season on my hardtail I finally made the jump and I appreciate what I learned on the hardtail, but I probably didn't need to that long.

I bet I've never even ridden a mountain bike, and I certainly haven't ridden one on any mountains. Sure as hell looks fun though!

If you mountain bike, a hitch becomes handy if the ride becomes wet / muddy.  All that stuff can stay outside the car.

I don’t though. My accident history on flat pavement suggests to me that riding all but the easiest trails would be a bad idea. So yeah, no issues with putting the bike in the car. If anything I prefer it in the sense that I don’t have to worry about the bike getting wet and having stuff rust.

Nevermind then. I have a Toyota Sienna with no seats in the back so it’s easy to toss a bike back there. My 1UP hitch rack is even easier to load up.

thats wild! yeah that would be immediate motivation for me as well. But its felt pretty secure even when canyon carving.

I use a RockyMounts fork mount roof top rack for mine, not too much of a PITA to take the front wheel off. But that really only gets me two bikes, I could probably squeeze three on there, but not many people want to sit in the back seat of a 3 series coupe anyways!

Because it’s a wheel-off rack, I can clear some parking garages and most drive throughs. I just need to get a dropper seatpost and I’ll be golden.
