Kinja'd!!!

It’s been a rainy week, and, given my phone’s propensity to churn out blurry pictures at the slightest hint of the dark, the DOTS has been ruined by the clouds. Still, I managed to capture this derelict Datsun at a shop mostly occupied by vans.

Kinja'd!!!

The little Datsun looks so tiny even next to that Ford Ranger.

Kinja'd!!!

It was much rougher than it appears in photos. Paint was pretty faded.

Kinja'd!!!

Not any rust to mention though. Perhaps a little rot underneath but people would kill for this solid of a base in many less temperate climates.

Kinja'd!!!

Yeah, the blur really was starting to set in. In my defense I was also getting somewhat wet from the rain. Nothing compared to today, when a sudden torrential downpour caught me out and drenched my new shoes, which have turned out to be very slick on smooth floors.

Kinja'd!!!

Muffler man for scale.

Kinja'd!!!

Just a normal Mustang.

Kinja'd!!!

I did think that the wheels were interesting.

Kinja'd!!!

You can see the old Brumby Rocking Chair Factory in the background, now turned hip apartments. A Mazda Mazda3 seems like a very good choice if you have to lug ladders around for a living.

Kinja'd!!!

And, wait, what’s that? I had a minor heart attack when I saw this. The double take then spit take then double take was real.

Kinja'd!!!

I suspect this Hyundai Elantra Coupe has been in an accident at some point.

Kinja'd!!!

Any ideas?

Kinja'd!!!

This has got to be one of the most period correct Fox Body Mustangs I’ve seen in a long time.

Kinja'd!!!

Red interior too. Sadly a slushbox.

Kinja'd!!!

One very very blurry Geo Metro four door sedan.

Kinja'd!!!

A real minty 4Runner for being stored outdoors. Some fun period graphics went great with the desert tan color.

Kinja'd!!!

The nicest Captiva I’ve seen in a long time. These were rental only so most looked worse after maybe a month of indifference.

Kinja'd!!!

Stealth camper conversion?

Kinja'd!!!

Oooh, I love the side Audi graphics combined with the roof rack.

Kinja'd!!!

I took my driving test in one of these. I remember them being profoundly and deeply devoid of even the slightest amount of steering or road feel. I suppose that one on the far right is the black sheep of the family.

Kinja'd!!!

I feel like conversion vans have almost completely left the roads.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Computo-phones.

Kinja'd!!!

And of course, a lovely sunset. This wasn’t even its good side. The upside of delivering for Doordash is that I get to see way more sunsets. Always a good thing.

I like the first gen 4Runner, that 280Z is hiding a lot of David Tracy’s favorite element I think. A good looking Z can, if you get that feeling from one it’s probably bad!

It looked like it was probably all original under a cheap faded respray. That bubble wrap under the hood worries me almost as much as the rust from where the paint flaked off. But the rockers appeared very solid so I don’t know. If it sat outside on dirt though, the rain and dew would have done a number on the underside. Definitely better than that one an Oppo has been doing bodywork on though. Don't remember the username.
