Honestly, I have no idea if this a good crossbow, but I love this design to bits and want to merge it with something like a Feinwerkbau or Anschutz rifle.

Yeah. A .22lr rifle with under-barrel torsion crossbow. That’s what I want to create.

So then what, the .22 round acts as a tracer for aiming the bolts?

That’s a badass crossbow. Are there clock springs wound inside those barrel sections?

When I was a little kid, Dad was the coach of our junior gun club. Indoor .22LR, 50ft, multi position. A couple of the kids had guns like these that looked cool as hell even back in the 60s. Dad was also a gunsmith so he made my brother and me custom stocks, with Presentation grade blanks. Ours looked so cool, too, but in a different way. No adjustments and lots of grain. Thanks, Dad! And thanks for dredging up  that memory.

Look, technically someone can build a true large-calibre sniper rifle with a sort of Olympic form-factor . It’s kinda what I’m counting on with the underbarrel torsion crossbow.

No qualms here.

Their site has an animation of how it works.

Take me there when you make a time machine! Also, if they’re still available, can I see photos? The competition rifle form-factor has always interested me so I kinda want to see what a home version looks like.

OK, but really, I think the next big design improvement for that has to be a repeating function, or at least an immensely  faster loading time . Which will work if it was just the boltcaster (found the name on a YouTube review of that), but can be highly-tricky if it becomes an underbarrel attachment.

That would be a hell o f a project but I’d love to see it and I’m sure that I’m not alone.

I’m sorry but no, there’re no pics. That was >50-years ago and I don’t even have family type pics from then. Think of a basic Anshutz bull barrel and a very normal looking stock with a high comb. Iron peep sights. I called my brother (also a gunsmith) if he still had them and they are long gone. I did find a pic of one of Dad’s students who went on to glory (Olympics , Camp Perry champion) holding her rifle and wearing early ‘70s gear .   https://www.digitalforsyth.org/photos/2269
