Huge if true. Note they’re not saying asymptomatic transmission never happens, just that it seems to be very rare.

That’s been one of the most worrisome aspects of all this. If we really can isolate symptomatic carriers and rely on moderate social distancing for the rest...

Of course governments have to get serious a bout contact tracing, both to prove this out and to take advantage of this window of opportunity the virus seems to be giving us.

just saw that - would explain some of the other trends that have been popping up.  I have my fingers crossed.   Just run away from anybody that coughs or sneezes.

My problem is I have year-round allergies, so I sneeze fairly randomly and too frequently.

Good news if true. Would make contact tracing more viable, and explain why Germany’s limited contact tracing seems to have been working well. On the other hand I feel like most places in the US have decided that even limited testing and tracing is too hard and have given up, which could be disastrous . This thing is not contained. W e just hit a new global high for new daily cases, despite the fact that the numbers are an underestimate with some places (like Brazil) hiding cases to try to hide their mismanagement, and many states in the US not following the CDC’s guidance to report probable cases (whether out of shame or laziness).

Yeah, I’m not optimistic that our governments are going to do the right thing, but knowing that it’s possible is at least a quarter of the battle.

I suppose many US states doing it their own way is out of political ambition more than shame or laziness.

I’d trust Germany to do it right more than I would the vast majority of Murka.

No. No! NO!!!

The Coronavirus lives for months, replicating, on wood, plastic, steel, aluminum and any painted surface! Then it leaps out of your belly after dinner!

Oh, wait, maybe I’m thinking of Alien.

Nevermind.

Again, here’s everything the “scientific experts” have gleaned about COVID so far...

This has been a horrific allergy season, too...

I didn’t know that, but I knew that.

Seems like they are walking this back:  Are asymptomatic people spreading the coronavirus? A WHO official’s words spark confusion, debate

How many times is the WHO going to be wrong before they loose credibility?

Yeah, I saw that. The WHO needs to get their house in order: for an organization whose primarily responsibility is communications, they clearly suck at it.

The core problem is that in the middle of a new pandemic it’s impossible not to be wrong at times, so credibility is impossible w hen the listener has the wrong expectations ...

...or when the WHO simply faceplants repeatedly.

One asymptomatic man in south korea infected 40-70 people in one night of going bar hopping
