If you had the power to bring Michael Jackson back from the dead so he could do that concert last tour he planned on doing , would you?

Kinja'd!!!

And since we should keep it car related, what about !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

Kinja'd!!!

But note that if you brought him back, he would just be an old guy with a heart condition who couldn’t race anymore.

Your choice is whether to bring ‘em back or not.  You could bring back one, or both, or neither... it’s your choice!

So, if you’re asking a hypothetical question to a person who somehow has the power to bring people back to life on their whim, saying “no” to bringing a person back to life isn’t that much different that saying you’d kill them (if there were no consequences) if they were still alive... hypothetically.

MJ was a fee-nom. I wouldn’t mind hearing him, so long as I didn’t have to look at him.

To further the concept, if you have the power to bring them back can you then also kill them without consequence? Because I smell a modern day star studded Running Man game show concept brewing.

I guess I would bring them all back.... I mean, be kind of cruel to not give them another chance if I could. I get that Jackson has some molestation accusations and that kind of thing which makes it tough to want to deal with...  I guess if I knew those were true I probably wouldn’t.

Well clearly you didn’t watch that episode of Star Trek TNG where they come across humans who died over 100 years prior on an space ship and brought them back to life

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Neutral_Zone_(Star_Trek:_The_Next_Generation)

... which led to a whole bunch of headaches for Picard.

Leaving the dead in their current state actually has fewer ethical and other issues than bringing them back.

And legally speaking, it’s not the same issue at all... it’s the complete opposite. Kill someone and you get severely punished. Save a life or bring someone back from the dead (like Jesus... if you believe in that), and it makes you a hero or ‘saviour’.

Clearly not.

Just saying, if you had infinite power to bring anyone (and everyone) you want back to life (I know the initial post was “pick 2) , what does that say about choosing not to...?

Note that James Hunt was no angel either. For example... from wikipedia :

“Hunt was involved in a relationship with Taormina Rieck (known as Ping by her friends) from the age of 15"

Imagine how news of that would play today...

I’m not sure I 100% agree that it is the same as murder, but I do think the concept of raising the dead presents a lot of moral conundrums.

What was the age of consent back then? It’s sixteen in the UK right now which is pretty fucking creepy. There’s even a provision that allows for the adult to reasonably believe the person is sixteen or older.

Back then, most people probably didn’t care. But I’m not debating that or if it’s creepy... I’m merely asking if you’d bring back none, one or both.

Both had their qualities and both had their issues.

James Hunt would be more than just an old guy with a heart condition who couldn’t race anymore.

He’d be an old guy with a heart condition who couldn’t race anymore, who had loads and loads of amazing stories to tell.

Oh, and Michael Jackson can stay dead.

I can’t speak on Michael Jackson, the person, but I have my opinions about Michael Jackson, the musician. On the music front, I wouldn’t bring him back. I’m not a fan of pop music, so I was never particularly taken with Jackson’s music. Sure, I enjoy the metal covers of Billie Jean and Smooth Criminal, but his own performances of his music have never been to my liking.

I have a lot of family and (former) friends who are fans of Michael Jackson. They seemed to be taken aback when I showed no emotion towards his passing. When they learned that I was not a fan of his music, they made many attempts to convince me of his musical aptitude. No matter how many times anyone wants to play any of his music, performed by him, I’m never going to appreciate it in the same way. His performance, and much of his musical repertoire, simply does not resonate with me.

As far as musicians I'd want to bring back, my vote would be for Vinnie Paul Abbott. If Pantera's The Great Southern Trendkill didn't exist, I wouldn't have become interested in playing the drums.
