Found a bike for my daughter on Saturday.

It’s an XS Trek Neko, like this:

Kinja'd!!!

We took it for a 10 mi test ride cruising about 14 mph on the local paths, she had no issue keeping up.

Thank you all for your help.

That’s a nice find. The Trek website seems to indicate that the Neko isn’t available in the U.S. I think they branded it as the “Dual Sport” over here with different color options . I wonder how it got here. Maybe they brought the Neko over to meet demand or maybe there was a shipping error or maybe shipping was blocked somewhere and the shipment was diverted back the U.S.

Strange, but I’m glad you were able to find something suitable!

No idea how it got here.

Glad it did though. It seems to be a wonderful bike thus far.

I like the color scheme. The grey graphics should help hide some of the dirt kicked up by the tires. T he blue accents are sharp. A ppliance white can be a pain to keep sparkly clean, but it sure looks nice when it is.

The fenders I have on my bike really help to keep things from getting too dirty, especially when it’s wet.

Now I really want to blow off work and go for a long ride.

She was super excited and washed/waxed it when we got home Saturday. Turns out it is a super pearl white and the graphics are super metallic.

Other than a scuff on one pedal, the bike is spotless.

I remember that feeling. I also remember the feeling when I dropped a tool and chipped the paint on top tube.

The pearl probably looks really sharp in the sun. We have an aluminum water bottle that’s painted pearl white and it puts off nice rainbows in the sunlight. I’ve thought it would make a nice color for a bike. I have a thing for metallic paint. It’s hard to see, but my other road bike is a metallic silver fade into dark metallic blue.

It also has a scuff on the top tube right where I can see it. I’m sensing a theme here.

Nice. I should probably fart around on mine today given that tomorrow’s finally up over 100 outside. I booked Tuesday as my “on” day on one of the sites I freelance for for a reason, ha.

O h man, I got so annoyed with myself chipping part of the paint when I put mine together, haha. It’s probably the least amount of abuse it’ll see for the obvious reason of “it’s a bicycle,” but t he struggle is real.

I have a friend who uses a ball-peen hammer to add the first dent to the hood of every new truck. He says it’s to remind him that it’s a work truck to be used, not coddled and protected.

The one time he didn’t do that, he put the first dent into the tailgate when he backed it into a tree with the tailgate down. He also had a 2-liter bottle of coke fall off the back seat, hit something sharp, then spray down the interior as it rolled around. Both of those incidents happened when he was visiting me, so the fault  was mine, of course. :)

That’s incredible. I don’t blame him at all, either.

Being so local to Trek my guess would be it was brought over for their annual trade show (European offerings dwarf domestic by a lot). Employee or s hop owner probably ended up with it as an insiders bonus allowing their kid to have something unique.

Sounds like everyone got what they wanted out of this and family time will see a noticeable improvement.  Good job Dad.

Possibly, although the shop we got it from said it came from a lady in her 60s who couldn’t ride any longer due to surgery, so who knows?

Everyone is happy now, so our riding season can commence fully. Weight lifted.
