My dad used to have a 4-digit 240z. It was blue. It had these hubcaps. It looked exactly like this car, but with the factory add on parts catalog spoiler and front bumper guards. What I didn’t like then as a really little boy, and today I still can’t stand, are the hubcaps. late 60's and early 70's style was one thing, and style makes circles and comes back, but no matter what...
...I still think these hubcaps suck.

My dad had one as well and quite a while back found the old factory hubcaps. They were really dirty but they got left in degreaser for too long and it ruined them. Not too much of a loss because they were very gaudy. They were a sort of red and blue radial pattern that looked kinda like stained glass.

I’m almost sure there is a car or could be a car on which those wheels would look better, but I agree. Something not really quite right, and I can’t put my finger on it. Best guess: the three-lobe shape and the circles are all “short” shapes that accentuate roundness, and the car isn’t strongly “long” enough in its styling
to counteract that, or short enough it’s in harmony. Sure, there’s a round dot in the C-pillar vent, and the lobe shape is similar to the rear window, but that just means there’s too much of that in one place on the car. It’s the chipotle cilantro lime on the no-meat burrito: overpowering.

Also, is there a vehicle that exists, that doesn’t look good on TE37s?

These always looked like they had truck wheels to me. Aftermarket is definitely the way to go.

Watanabes are so overpriced, I just couldn’t order them. Watanabe is also my mother in law’s maiden name. I got the Enkei Comps because they looked the part. I had slotted mags but one was damaged and they said it wasn’t safe to repair it.

Yeah the flower hubcaps are ugly, My 240Z came with dealer option slotted mags but I changed them due to damage we found.
