Took the adventure bike out hiking yesterday to Silver Star Mountain. Weather was awesome, riding was fantastic and the hike was excellent.

Kinja'd!!!

I’ve had that bike for about 2 years and the more I ride it the better I like it. It’s heavy, relatively sluggish, not that good on the interstate... but it’ll go anywhere you want it to and haul all your crap too .

And! I wish I had a macro lens, but I just have my phone. Pacific northwest wildflower season!

Kinja'd!!!

L to R, top to bottom: Oregon grape, ???, fringe cup, saskatoon,

Oregon anemone, lupine, salmonberry, vanilla leaf, fawn lily,

false solomon’s seal, bunch berry, huckleberry, trillium,

paintbrush, fairybells, creeping violet, beargrass, ???,

mountain ash, ???, bleeding heart, penstamon.

Anybody  know the ones I can’t ID?

Nice! I have a KLR too, and it’s been my primary ride since 2017.

What tires are you running? Are those the stock D606?

Nice KLR! I used to have one, took it cross country! Looks like you are running most the same mods I ran on mine.

Let me know if yours is 2015+. I have some parts you may want.

Oh, thanks, this one’s a 14. Yeah, many of the mods were actually done by the PO, which was good cause they were all stuff I was planning on anyway when I bought it :)

Mods I did were to add a pair of Tusk boxes though for camping, which are rad. And revert to stock exhaust cause good god that guy had a loud muffler. Th inking I’ll   add a phone charger too, that’s on my to do list.

I didn’t know you all had one too. Awesome!

Yep, haven’t had the inclination  to change ‘em. I had street bikes before this so I don’t really know what’s what as far as dirt and gravel. Recommendations? I do about 2/3 pavement and 1/3 gravel.

Depends on the type of dirt. The trails near me are all sand, so I got Metzeler Karoo 3s since they’re a paddle type tread. But the Continental TKC80 is probably the best all-arounder. Lots of options and opinions though, just avoid Shinkos. Never been a fan of them.

Ahh bummer. I have a low mileage spare 15+ radiator and fan. Different mounts than 14 IIRC. Bought em spare after my dad had to replace his and we saw what one from Kawasaki costs. Ouch

Thanks, glad to be here!  Been lurking for a little while and decided I could maybe contribute a bit. That’s a great trail, highly recommended if you haven’t been there. Just keep in mind road 41 to the trail head is pretty bad, would recommend a high clearance vehicle.

My girlfriend can do it in her Rav4. But I'd probably take my bike up. Been meaning to head up into Gifford since I put knobbies on.
