Kinja'd!!!

A few notes:

Bugs: Don’t drive with your window down at 80+ or a juicy bug will blast you maybe i n the face ; I don’t know if this is a consequence of the twin-spar M mirrors or if this is common amongst all cars? I can’t remember this problem in my Genesis. My side windows got demolished by bugs just after the A pillar. Washing my car in a bit and dreading the volume of elbow grease I’ll have to supply.

Food: I live in Yakima, WA now ; f oo d scene is quite worse than Chicago, but we do get the all elusive Huckleberry goodnesss here . Haven’t found good pizza yet. Recommendations (all types of food) ?

Range Anxiety: The M2C has a 13 gallon fuel tank. I probably averaged only 80 mph because I was so worried about being able to make it to the next big town for fuel. I averaged 25-ish mpg; probably could have done better if I slowed down, but I’m not the type of person that buys an M car to drive 1 0-20 mph under the speed limit.

Cops: Biggest presence was on I-80 in Illinois before 7 AM; not sure why, C annonball?

Stuff: I packed my Vox AC-15HW, Marshall Class 5, and pedal board in the trunk. 3 Gibsons in the back seat covered with a blanket and a sleeping back stuffed between the necks and the back of the passenger seat so they wouldn’t jiggle about; worked well. My parents drove a UHaul with the boring stuff .

Landscape: Going to explore/hike this weekend, very excited.

W atch out for covid19 over there... Washington’s hot spot right now.

Food situation isn’t great - but you absolutely should try Los Hernandez tamales - https://www.seattletimes.com/life/food-drink/eastern-washingtons-los-hernandez-tamales-wins-a-james-beard-award/

While the food situation might be iffy you’re now living in one of the largest hop growing regions in the country so the beer situation should be solid. Yakima was the home of the first brewpub! https://www.seattlepi.com/news/article/Grant-s-brewpub-leaves-legacy-to-drink-to-1197281.php

Miner’s. OK, it’s not good from a foodie perspective, but it is great nostalgia if you’ve been going there for 40 years. Very American portion sizes, too. Can’t leave without a “trough of fries” (as I call it) and a shake (I am not a burger person).

Casa Mia in Yakima is gone now, last time I had pizza there was at Abby’s - it’s a chain, but kind of old fashioned and not bad, reminds me of Shakey’s.   I prefer a more thin crust pizza, so YMMV.

I have some roots there and some family still lives there, I visit now and then - you could be the only M2C in town (Yakima lacks a BMW dealer IIRC), if I see one, I’ll probably know who it is :)

We tried Abby’s the other night; was super expensive and not very great for the price . Probably won’t get it again.

Suppose I’ll go to the Tri cities for BMW service.

And it looks like I need to add a truck to my garage to fit in here, lol. That or a WRX.

You might be in a food desert for pizza, especially Chicago style. But Yakima will have tons of good Mexican f ood, and some good beers and ciders to make up for it.

You can easily make TC in just over an hour. Virtually no traffic in that part of the world, their “rush hour” is a cute parody.

There is indeed a strong population of brotrucks there, which can be amusing as it has as much suburban tract housing as anywhere. Gotta be manly!

Sheeeit, I do 60 with the windshield down in my Jeep. Keep them windows open.

(Actually, I tend not to like driving with windows down at high speeds. Either get the top and doors off , or keep everything up.)

Get the bug guts off your car ASAP they can really do permanent damage to paint and plastics.

Nice choice of car and amps! I’m a huge fan of the AC 15. And I have to assume the mirrors had something to do with the bugs, because I drive with my windows down anytime its dry and remotely warm and can't recall any instances of big, juicy bugs coming in at any speed.

“But Yakima will have tons of good Mexican food”

Looks skeptically towards the  northwest.

Well, it isn’t Mexico part II like AZ, but there has been a strong Hispanic (primarily Mexican) population in eastern WA since maybe the 40s. There are some well-regarded restaurants there.

After doing this 2 years ago, we started using states as units of measure. A really, really long distance= 1 Montana

But now you can go to Maryhill! As someone who lives a couple hours west, why Yakima  though?
