Make DC Maryland Again.

Make Puerto Rico a state

Combine Rhode Island and Connecticut . It was never an Island anyway.

Combine North and South Carolina. No one needs two Carolinas.

Make the City of Austin a state.

DC has a greater population then Vermont and Wyoming and about the same population as Alaska and North Dakota (this is just DC proper and doesn’t include suburbs that are outside of the city proper).

I do think Puerto Rico should inevitability be either a state or independent, depending on what they want to do, the in-between limbo should stop. Having the federal government’s seat independent of any state makes sense, but perhaps DC could be reduced in size to a rump with a boundary drawn around the major government facilities, and the remainder where people actually live reincorporated into Maryland. Alternatively, they could be counted as a Maryland congressional district for representation, but remain separate for everything else.

Oh, and historically, Delaware is a part of Greater Pennsylvania, PA should take us over again.

They should just do a total number vote of the whole country, Puerto Rico is welcome to be a state. Isn’t anything other than a total vote of the people messing around with results in this day and age ? I have read the reasons they created it but there are at least three problems with it. I also think voting should be compulsory and we should get a holiday to go vote as well as the mail in option, I always do mail in. Of course between Hawaii and now CA my state has always pretty much gone Dem no matter what, I like that but I always felt that if I lived in a swing state my vote would not matter, the whole thing goes to the other side once the numbers are in. Ok don’t get me started!

It’s all 100% true about the asshole in a small town, too.

We had someone move back after causing some... issues several years ago. Everyone kept asking if he was allowed back and when he’d be leaving. Pretty recognizable dude, he gave our office a double bladed hockey stick, and I’ve seen him walking around with a hockey/lacrosse stick hybrid.

Much of the state would have dirt roads and be living in soddys if not for the Puget Sound economic engine (this coming from someone born and mostly raised in Eastern WA with plenty of connections still there).    There’s a sharp flow of tax money out of the rat race corridor.

Oh come on.   You have to admit it is funny to see some whine about the Seattle metro while benefiting from it, as some don’t seem to realize it.  If any state should be able to have some unity, I hope this one can do it. There’s plenty of (at the very least) purple east of the mountains, and plenty of red to the west. Splits are fun from the perspective of ideology, but economically, I think it would be a gongshow.

That being said, if I was offered a job in Spokane with my latest rat race salary, I’d be there tomorrow.
