I’ve been there, rode my bicycle up to the rim and then blasted back down again. The road around it is about 65 miles long. It’s a really neat place.

Those are cool. I prefer the grayscale ones to the color.
Unfortunately except for the very broad Cascades map, the only locations I’ve been to here are Smuggler’s Notch, where I didn’t ski because it was like 60 degrees on the 30th of December and Mt. Snow, which struck me as crowded and poorly laid out (I also note that the Mt. Snow one includes Haystack, which I think has been closed for a few years as people continually go bankrupt trying the same app arently not viable idea of a private members only mountain). So yeah, not too much to interest me (though getting the big version of the Cascades for my brother might be nice, would be good to see in person before dropping $300 though )

This is the worst Rorschach test I’ve ever done.

That’s some quality pedantry. I’ve raised your issue with one of the site creators; I’ll be sure to report back.

On an elevation map each color (or greyscsle value ) represents a specific elevation. There’s no lighting or shadow.

Public Service Notice: Had the Tesla in Asia the other day had LIDAR, it almost certainly would not have run headlong into an over-turned truck in the lane.
Now back to your regularly scheduled OPPO content.

Yes, that would absolutely be the proper name. For us I think it was just a matter of familiarity, does the lay person know what a “relief” map is?
It’s more descriptive, but potentially at a cost of understanding.Though maybe we should be targeting the demographic who knows what a “relief” map is though... Unsure, just making this up as we go along!

That occurred to me as well. It’s fine to say “we can get 95% of the way there without LIDAR” but that’s not at all what Musk said.

I just looked at the FP post on the IIHS gloominess (well deserved) about FSD and it all comes up to the same conclusion— The FSD guys are just cutting too many corners and claiming “Mission Accomplished”.
the weird thing about Musk’s ongoing claim of the “Tesla line being the safest cars ever built”... you can just go to the ACTUAL IIHS safety stats and see that WHOLE YEARS go by with ZERO deaths in a Lexus RX, with 20X more cars on the road and 15X more miles driven... and nobody dies in an RX. Compared to the same year wherein JUST the reported fatalities in a Tesla from FSD fails and explodes-on-impact crashes involving a Tesla total over a dozen deaths.
You can tell Musk didn’t have a background in statistics....

At the Land Cruiser Heritage museum they have a map of the state of Utah, fully colored, from about 50 or so of these tiles. Its like 20 feet by 12 feet. Its awesome.
I also just discovered they have an interactive VR walkthrough of the museum...which is cool

I’m a lay person and I knew the distinction . Anyone who took a high-school art class knows what a relief sculpture is.
