I finally got the luggage rack finished up for my Warrior. Had it l aser cut from 304 Stainless at work and bent it up on my grandpas old sheet metal brake which now belongs to a family friend. I also broke this really cool, old (built in the 40's-50's maybe?) sheet metal brake, felt super terrible about it, and had to weld it back together. Anyhow, the luggage rack turned out great! It’s a touch more flexible than I’d like so I might pull it back off and weld up a corner, but it won’t ever see a lot of weight and should work just fine.

All that’s left now is the bag mounts and this bike is ready for touring. (apart from everything else I want to do to it like a windshield extension, highway pegs, better seat, maybe footboards, eventually an auxiliary gas tank, maybe a fairing, speakers,.... .... ...)

That looks nice, awesome you made it yourself.

I wouldn’t recommend fairing speakers, they sound terrible, can’t be heard at speed and frankly always seem tacky in the same way as highschoolers with their windows down pumping terrible music.  If you want music while you ride I’d strongly recommend picking up a sena bluetooth unit - they’re awesome!

Thanks!

Yeah, I’ve always felt that way about fairing speakers as well, haven’t looked into helmet systems much yet but will do so when it comes time to replace the helmet.

Thanks!

Belt drive is great, minimal maintenance , no mess unlike a chain   , and the ability to change gearing unlike shaft drives.

Plus I imagine a spare belt f its in your luggage if you take it on a long trip.

I’ve used the sena units that clamped onto a helmet for a while but 2 years ago bought a new bell helmet that had an integrated Sena mount

I bought that one, but with a transition lens instead of black/clear and I love it.  Less wind noise and it looks a bit more seamless.

HD has been using belt drives on its big twins forever. Far as replacement belts, the kevlar ones last up to 100k miles so no need to pack one on a trip.
