My GF was starting to think about scooters and retro mini bike type things. Started showing her pictures and something like an old Honda trail 70 was really getting her excited. She was disappointed when I told her the market for those is pretty hot and they’re harder to find and pricy. Sent her a link to a new CL ad and now...

She’s the proud new owner of a 1971 Honda. The scoot was very well priced and generated lots of interest,  but the seller liked her story of using it for camping with the restoration Airstream and sold it to her. Haven’t given it a thorough once over yet but I buzzed around the parking lot at work and I’m super happy for her about it.

thanks! first parts needed are a stock airbox assembly and maybe a passenger seat for starters. i’m grateful for any info you can pass along

Newer models have a passenger seat that screws onto the luggage rack, but I’ve never seen anything like that for the original frames. You could convert it to have the double seat my Cub has, but between the seat, the new fuel tank,   and all the brackets it’ll cost her as much as the whole bike did.

There’s a guy near me selling ten of them. Some are very nice, and were in a museum, but he has a beater or two as low as $1k. I’m tempted.

I am still hoping the major Traffic Act re-write that happens next year will include a class for autocycles that would let me import a Piaggio Ape....I really want one of those along with a 126p.

I mean, what else goes with a small Polish-built Italian city car but a small, Italian-built city truck-scooter thing! :P

Yeah. Its crazy what CT70s are bringing these days. (And old Z50s also). Bikes that brou ght 400 or 500 bucks 4 years ago are over a grand. Nice ones that were  800-900 are 2K+.

That’s a neat bike your GF has there too. Be sure to secure it.
