"Who is the Leader - 404 / Blog No Longer Available" (whoistheleader2)

This joke was stupid, much like the video, but I enjoyed it because it was so stupid.
In this video, Jay Leno and Elon Musk tootle around town in Musk’s new Compensation Mobile while he points out all his greatest achievements as they drive past. For some reason they take it through the Boring Company tunnel, which is now paved, with the idea of public transit abandoned, and it barely fits.
All this is on indifferently edited primetime uploaded to Youtube where it appeared in my suggestions.
The real takeaway is that the Cybertruck will be 5% smaller in every dimension, so be prepared to break out those 5% smaller truck nuts to fit the aesthetic.
For the record I don’t hate the Cybertruck, just what it stands for. Some impressive engineering wrapped up in a juvenile daydream.

Sorry, can’t click on it. My sanity is delicate enough as it is.
Can’t wait to see the oblivious techdork cultists here snap up that “truck” though, it’ll cause the vegan/crossfit style slavishness to amp up another level.

Yes, but Elon is now pals with President Trump, so his sales will take a hit because his entire customer base is smug liberals.

The size of his ego is limitless.
During the (non-) launch of the SpaceX shuttle yesterday, one of his PR guys referred to him as the “chief engineer” of SpaceX (and he’s referred to himself as such ). Really? You’re the best/ most trusted/ most senior engineer at SpaceX? I guess if you found the company, you can call yourself whatever you want.
I know that NASA’s budget is limited, so they let SpaceX put on the show, but I was really put off by the level of Elon content yesterday (Teslas driving the astronauts to location, and SpaceX’s talking heads saying “Tesla” every single chance they got).

I take C hief Engineer to be the same as a chief designer at an automaker - supervises the staff and sets the general direction/priorities, but everyone else does the actual work.

Sure, but a chief designer actually had
design education and worked their way up to the position. Musk doesn’t have an engineering degree...

I totally thought Elon was standing on a dumpster up top and now I’m disappointed that it was just the pointytruck.

Or even better, standing in a dumpster. Imagine Jay Leno and that poor engineer guy that doesn’t get any credit gathered around Musk in a dumpster on 24 hour news.

Ha, if only.
Plenty of techdorks I’ve encountered are objectivist libertarian types who have been relatively coddled and don’t have a ton of self-awareness.

Not necessarily - Harley Earl never graduated college, and neither did Virgil Exner, and they were two of the most famous designers of the 20th century.

Yes, sure, but lives aren’t potentially at risk because of how something
looks
. I’m not trying to say that there haven’t been great engineers that didn’t have a formal education, but there’s a reason to have that solid footing.

Being a Trump schmoozer probably won’t be a dealbreaker to the Tesla cult. Many of them seem to be on the “I built this all myself, good luck to you ” train, at least in my anecdotal experience.

I personally made a tidy amount on my Tesla stock and Elon has been doing a remarkably thorough job of showing us all that he is as crazy as a loon.
In other news, it concerns me that Twitter and Facebook matter as much as they do because to me personally, they don’t matter at all. How dumb is everybody?

Elon is a living representation of “Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt”. Book smart, street stupid, or maybe even street smart too, as he knows how to play some people. Just like 45 (who is book stupid, street smart). No self-awareness though, and I see that in some of his brand devotees as well.
Twitter and facebook could vanish tomorrow, and my life wouldn’t end. But for some, it is an addiction. Still, alarming that this most corrupt regime in American history is trying to target them because a thin-skinned POS had his feelings hurt. How dumb? Remember the line about think of how stupid the average person is, and that half the people are more stupid than that.

The thin-skinned baby at work. It’s a horrific shame good people leave us every day, and dear leader (and his garbage family) continue to carry on.
I even feel stupid because of this. Via ignorant optimism, a few years I was telling myself it wouldn’t be so bad. I was wrong - every day deeper in a hole.

Oh, I was the same, once his contention became serious, I was like, “Maybe it won’t be so bad because of all the politics he hasn’t partaken in.” Boy, was I wrong, though I was entirely correct when I pointed out that Hillary Clinton was a problematic — at best — candidate. And my progressive inlaws all cried, But Donald Trump! and I said, “Hillary Clinton is bad news,” and they all cried, How dare you say she isn’t qualified! to which I replied, “I never said I thought she’d be a poor president, only that she is not electable.” I happen to think she’d have made a fine president, even if her integrity is ahem questionable.

Is it me, or did Musk actually seem to have an obviously nervous/worried expression when they cut to him, just as Jay was pulling out in the truck? Maybe he’s uncomfortable with someone else driving, or he was actually afraid something would go wrong with the prototype as it got rolling.
Also, digging an underground lair next to your rocket factory is not the best way to make yourself not look like some sort of a villain.

I imagined it would just be a dopey regime - like Baby Bush without the chickenhawk warmongers , or like Daddy Bush without the relative professionalism. I underestimated the ability to be malicious and screw people over just because.
There’s no ideal candidate, as in my opinion, an ideal person won’t choose that line of work. I see it as choosing between lesser evils. Hillary is another moderate centrist corporatist D with plenty of ethical questions , but that ’s still a lesser evil (and she did win the popular vote, a moral victory I suppose) . Same for Biden - not a real fan as he’s another installment of that same story , but looking at the alternative, I’ll take it.

Now there’s talk of EW as his running mate. He said he’d pick a woman, which I think is great, and a big identity politics to own the Republicans with.
Trump and his ilk will be vicious in this election because he's bleeding and he knows it. It's going to be nasty and vicious and mean. There are no bounds. Biden can be nasty as well and may be so a little bit.

A woman as VP might go over better with the change-fearers better than a woman POTUS, too. Although the Simpsons, who predicted Trump, predicted a woman would win the office after him and would have to clean up a mess. I am waiting impatiently.
The Ds need to finally stop being “civil”. The devolved new breed of Rs are uncivil, fire has to be fought with fire. If Biden doesn’t give it equally to how he takes it, his chances will be greatly harmed.
