Assuming it’s not a rust heap.
$5800 asking price for a Mazda 3 S with 78k miles. Seems like not a terrible deal.

I’m gonna veto it just for the stupid mustache sticker over the plates.

It will rust eventually. So sayeth I, a former owner of a 2006 Mazdaspeed 6 that developed rust problems far too early in its life.

Seems petty but I don’t disagree with you.

My 2006 Mazda 3 is fairing fairly well. This 2009 car is located in a drier area so it shouldn’t be too far along with the tin worm. This is a car I’d drive for 3-4 years and then give to one of my kids so it’s airbags, ABS and not too fast.

Looks cool to me, it’s a color you don’t always see . If it has rust just paint it all with hirsch mira cle paint and hoon on.

I got less for mine, but it had lots more miles and it was the base (“sport” - no sunroof, etc.) It was an 09 as well and I never had any rust issues like older 3s.

The lack of interior photos scares me

6g’s for an 11 year old Mazda? $3000. $3500 tops. To me anyway.

I actually liked the mustache over the more common options of a thumb or airspray dot. I don’t cover my plates though as there’s really no reason to do so.

I’d probably start with a $5k offer. I think it’s fair for a high trim level of this car. These were 25k + when new.

I like the color too, any kind of road kill blood would cover up rusty areas too.

If it’s been dogged to death that would be a deal killer for me.

2009 is a good year for those. Rust proofing was much improved over earlier years, and overall build quality is better. Still very reliable and nice. With only 78k, it should be good for a while. I’d say a NP at $5000

The MSRP on my Infiniti FX45 was something like 45 grand when new . I paid 4.
Maybe I’m just a cheap-ass.

I have an 04 sedan with the 2.3 as an “extra car” if you will, and I really like mine. The only thing I don’t really care so much about it for is the seats and literally...seats. Maybe I am just used to the seats in my Infiniti but they are just...seats that are there. But I still like it a lot and it sips fuel in comparo to the G35

This design has aged well

I have an older version of this car and it fits me really well. I have no issues with the seats.

Probably my favorite variant of Mazda3. Would love this with the newer 2.5L engine. Better efficiency and more power.

A agree with this.... I had an 08' that was the same configuration (other than it was blue) and I bought it new for just less than $20K. I’d consider 3.5K or around there a good number.

I miss ours, but the price seems high...

Yeah, ours was in good shape, ran great, and went for around $3k (can’t recall exactly) last year... The manual probably makes it somewhat more valuable, but not a ton more.
Interestingly, much like this one, ours had no visible rust. They must have figured it out by later in production.

Maybe I am just used to the side bolsters in the G35... they’re not BAD seats they’re just...too wide for me? I dunno. As far as I know my Mazda has every single option available so I am not sure if there was a “Sportier” seat available.

I loved mine. It’s a fantastic driver. Design I think is best of all of the 3 generations especially in hatch form like that one. If mine didn't have 2 different people hit it and get paid off with hail damage, I would have kept it....but we needed a truck more.

Oh yeah the seats do lack in side bolstering.

FWIW: The ‘07+ Mazda3s don’t rust as badly as the ‘04 - ‘06s do. It’s still an issue, but not as bad. I drove my ‘08 3 hatch for six years in all sorts of weather and never had any rust issues. It was a beast in the snow once I got the OEM shit Goodyear tires off of it.
I miss that car. It was so fun and reliable. Got excellent gas mileage, too. I hit 34 MPG several times. And mine was an auto.

KBB is ruining the chance at good deals. They post a “range” and folks figure their car is rated as excellent and then put it’s price at the high end. KBB pricing for this car is $3500-6500 depending on condition. I think it’s worth 5k if the interior is in good shape.

I recently saw a Craigslist ad where someone used their thumb to hide the plate of the car being sold, but could you not only see the plates of two other cars in the driveway but they also had their house number and last name painted on the mailbox which was visible in multiple pictures. I think my eyes rolled 360 degrees around in my skull.

Actually, I was wrong. We got $4k for it . It just always sticks in my mind that all cars are worth $3k in this region if they are reliable enough for commuting. My wife was only hoping to get a couple grand for it , but we had plenty of time to sit on it and someone really interested in this specific model came along offering asking.
