All I know is that I know something about who Trump is and what kind of things he says.

We know nothing about the people labeling tweets as “misleading” or how cherry picked their evidence “proving” the tweet as misleading is.

No, my point is people will have a, sort of, default response to Trump’s claims based on their knowledge of him and relevant knowledge of the claim. Adding some anynomuous “fact checker’ s” $0.02 isn’t going to change a damn thing for how credible anyone finds the claim.

This kind of thing is true, and exactly why you can’t give Trump an inch. It’s really quite scary what a bully he is and how he’s so viciously attacked and ruined careers of people who were just doing the right thing, or trying to.

Trump should hope Big Tech doesn’t actually turn on him in a meaningful way, they are treating him with kid gloves right now, but if they actually wanted to throw their weight around they could crush him.

I’m not sure what point you thought you were making. I pointed it out because I thought it was funny because Jack Dorsey supports him, and now he’s turned on Twitter because they did the absolute bare minimum to “fact check” what he says. what that has to do with bakers is beyond me.

Here’s the problem: these actions by news organizations and social media companies attempting to label falsehoods or propaganda just play into his rhetoric and stir up his base. It’s like right out of the authoritarian regime playbook...

The real question: will he actually peacefully “hand over” if and when he loses in November?

True, I think his base is too small to reelect him. If he’s going to have any chance he’s going to need other conservatives and pr o-business types to hold their nose and vote for him because they want more tax cuts or whatever. And I think this sort of stuff makes it less likely that they will do so.

As for stepping down peacefully if he loses, who knows, but even though I have pretty low expectations for people, I think refusing to honor the election would be a bridge to far for many R epublicans.
