The Corolla wagon could be on the way to the US. Of course it would probably get some cladding and a suspension lift , but still, would be a pretty interesting option in hybrid form.

eww, cladding and lift.

Probably hybrid Cvt only

Glad to see the US marketing dev team chiming in, good morning!

That would be great, even with a lifestyle lift.

Also don’t expect it to be particularly useful. What’s the cargo capacity on these? I’d be surprised if it can hold more than an old Matrix. My brother rented one in Japan recently and was very underwhelmed. Yeah it looks pretty cool and wagon is better than no wagon, but current styling trends don’t help these things when it comes to practicality.
Of course Toyota isn’t the only offender here - same applies for Volvo and BMW 3 series wagons of late.

This would make a great commuter. I'm intrigued.

AWD hybrid? Depends on what they do with it I guess.

Considering I see about sixteen thousand Subaru Crosstreks on the road daily, this is probably not a bad idea. Needs the cladding and fake AWD, though.

So i t’ll end up being a 4 door C- HR.

Not just wagons The rake in modern suvs kill the potential practicality of the large cargo area. Volume is useless unless the cargo is parallelogram shaped

Luggage capacity is 581 litres,
compared to that of say a BMW 2 Series Touring which has 500 litres.

Oh yeah, I rented the Jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag SUV when I went home for a wedding and we could barely fit our luggage in the back! It was like a big compact car.

You want ‘clad and lift’?

toyota is big enough where they can afford to punt and see what happens. If they’re federalizing the EU wagon then it won’t be that expensive, and if it flops they can absorb it.

It should sell well enough in Quebec, the NE and NW United States. If they are happy with only doing well in those markets it makes sense.

It does come in ‘Trek’ variant.
Regular and ‘Trek’.

no. thats ruined a clean wagon.

It would make a nice, new Matrix. Would be neat if they do a hotter version with that little turbo 3cyl...

Gimme.

with the seats down, there is a load of room. my gripe is that with the shallow rake of the rear window useful space is lost.

I ws trying to help get 4 adults and 2 kids to/from the airport and it was a mess. you either lay the suitcases down on their side and forego the vertical space or put 2 vertical and then add small filler stuff between that and the trunk door.
![]() 05/26/2020 at 16:02 |
|
Not bad. It could do with some smaller wheels on it.
![]() 05/26/2020 at 16:20 |

The Jaaaaaaaaaag had a cargo area cover that gave you less vertical space too, I guess it was designed for an old couple to go on weekend trip. The sloped back on these SUVs just eliminates any space. The second gen CRV I had was very square in back and I actually got a queen mattress in it taco’ d.

Is the Trek even lifted compared to the standard wagon? They look roughly the same height in those 2 photos.

This would make a suitable successor for the Alltracks that are everywhere here in VT. I think the current generation of Outback has gotten too big for VT tastes and everyone was buying the VW until they were discontinued.

That’s no HORRIBLE. But it’s not the best.
![]() 05/26/2020 at 16:46 |

I’ve not found that to be the case, mine is at 45 degrees but most I know have a deep rear bumper so the roof line doesn’t finish that far back from where the boot area starts.
With the depth of the rear bumper, then the inside lip.

If there’s any lift it’ll be about an inch.
I might check Parker's, when I get home. The Parker's guide gives all the dimensions of cars on sale here in the U.K.

Tbh a big compact is what the corolla is supposed to be

As long as it comes in hybrid, I’m down. At that point its a prius with a better look and maybe even more cargo capacity
![]() 05/26/2020 at 18:37 |

what has bugged me with suvs I’ve rented or driven is the cargo area is flush with the rear lip, so that items don’t have to be lifted out, just slid out. The Skoda doesn’t have that curse. Its even more insulting when they remove the spare tire, and replace with a can of fixaflat, they should have even more room.

C-H R actually has 4-doors!

Ye’, with estates, the boot lid is about two or three inches deep, where the glass up top is only a few millimetres deep so it offsets much of what is taken with the rake of the window.
Most small SUVs give up any notion of bootspace for seating for occupants. Seven seaters are the worst, in five seat configuration, you've a decent size boot area, with the two jumpseats used, yes you can carry seven persons, but you can't take much luggage with you.
![]() 05/26/2020 at 21:45 |

7 seaters are a joke. you’ve accepted youll be in a boat, ust buy the damn minivan. the floor drops at least6" and you’ll have space with or without people.

Oof, I forgot about the weird handles. And I’m somehow proud of that!
