How not to sell a truck

I’ve been on the fence about selling my Tacoma for some time now. I believe I’ve found a solution, list it well above what it should go for. I’ll clean it up, take some good photos and list it for 30K. It isn’t worth that, probably around 26K. But hey some poor fool may buy it. If they do I can jump into a full size without regrets and a few dollar left over for some under seat storage options.

List at 30K, take nothing less than 29.5K. I like my truck and I don’t really need to sell it. I’m perfectly happy driving it for a few more years until a bigger boat forces me into a gas HD.

Solution solved.

Tacomas do not depreciate bellow 30k, so it should sell for that.

You’ll be fine, you clearly know what you have, and you aren’t interested in lowballers.

On the other hand, it’s not a bad plan actually. I listed my old boat for a lot of money more than once.

I got $28,500 for my 4.5 year old Taco. Tundras, Tacomas, and 4Runners are just silly when it comes to resale.

Exactly. Although the missus did give her blessing about it when I brought it up. She leaves all car related things to me.

it’s just weird to me that my Ranger’s predicted value is within spittin’ distance of half of what I paid for it, 6 years and 130,000 miles ago.

You should check the Georgia market. You can find them in the low 20s for 2017 and up models. Well equipped, do they only come with cloth and manual seats?

Pretty much, yeah. Colorado has them at high 20's to low 30's for ‘16 and up.

Gas HD?

Get a diesel. HD trucks with gassers are useless.

Okay, then yeah in Georgia I've seen them at and around 20.

Meh. I’d never recoup the price delta. Diese ls carry a premium and I wouldn’t tow enough, mileage wise, to make it worth it.

Not true. So many fleets go with gas for a reason.

But turbo noises. Ill never go back to a gasser after two powerstrokes. I also buy used so price difference isnt a hige deal to me
