There are a lot of air cooled VW nuts around here  but none of them have a Ghia. I saw the first one I've seen in a while yesterday and pictures just don't do them justice. Such an elegant design.

I feel like I never see black Ghias, they are always lighter, fun colors.

Agreed. They are one of my favorite VWs by a lot.

I have a friend on Pershing in the DeBaliviere neighborhood who has a cream colored Karmann Ghia. She doesn’t drive it much and it may be hidden in a lot behind her building. There are still a few of these in the St. Louis area.

Ohhh. There is a guy in the central west end with a yellow one. He can occasionally be seen working on it in the street. Last time I saw him he was sanding the body down prepping for paint.

They really are pretty, I miss the era when it was just an accepted industry standard that you would do a sporty coupe model on your mainstream family car platform as just a matter of course.

I think the previous generation Accord was close to this. It was a looker but maybe a little subtle and shared the Accord’s great drivetrain. Too bad it wasn’t styled by Ghia. The non premium sporty family coupe is now dead except for the Civic which is a little too small for that.

I wonder how much?

... not that I’d buy it... but I wonder.

I have a friend who lives on Wydown Blvd (in the City) that has a Kharman Ghia too.

Hopefully not because of rust!

I’m up in Maryland. Don’t see too many classics in the area I’m in. But once, and likely never again, I saw a rat rod Karmann Ghia. Rusty grey, lowered to the floor, solid steel sleds, and a completely exposed (and clean) gas engine filled up the trunk. Certainly had more than 4 cylinders. Very pretty car, stock or not.
