I know, it’s not a lot of money and it is not an expensive tire anyway, but when Grindintosecond told me Cooper’s were made in the USA, I decided to buy them over any other tire. I could have saved $80 -100 with Barum which had decent reviews, but I figure any dollar spent with US companies helps.

$260 for 4 tires, and another $140 for taxes, installation and road hazard warranty. Now I just have to figure out where my Large EVAP leak is, emission testing showed P0045 code which didn’t prevent me from passing, but I hate having codes.

Or you can buy Michelin tires too. Quoting their website : “ Headquartered in Greenville, S.C., Michelin North America employs about 22,650 and operates 20 major manufacturing plants”

Good to know! I imagine they don’t make puny Honda Fit tires in states, but they all get the plant code printed on the sidewall so you can always check where they are made.

There is nothing wrong with Cooper. They are quality tires.

Walmart’s Do uglas tires are mostly US-made. They are made by Goodyear.

I run Cooper CS5 Ultra Tourings in H rating on the Cruze and have been very, very happy with them. They were a huge step up over the OEM tires which I think were Goodyears, maybe, and they lasted forever but I always felt they were iffy on anything but warm dry pavement.  The Coopers have been better in every regard and lasted almost as long (I got almost 80k out of OEMs, Im pushing 70k on the Coops and they are almost ready to go).

I have Toyo Open Country’s on my Jeep and they say made in the USA on them. I plan on putting a set  on my Tundra when the time comes. I think it would be good synergy with two American made Japanese products.

Meanwhile,  the American tires (Goodyear Eagle Assymetric 5) i bought for both my cars are made in Germany.

It seems many tires are made in states. I’m surprised. I thought most of that dirty stuff would have been moved to third world by now.

I have K02's on my Tundra, but I can’t figure out if they are US made. I didn’t know Toyo made tires in states either.

I prefer A merican made instead of A merican owned. If something like Toyota Tundra is designed in USA, made in USA with USA parts and USA workers, that is more than good enough for me. Actually , better than GM or Ford which  are USA companies, but product is Mexican or Canadian.

I bought tires at the end of February. Just walked out to check and n ot only were all five duratracs  made in the same state that I’m located in but they were also made the second week of this year. Neat! I can’t believe that I haven’t driven them enough to rotate them yet. Wild.

I replaced brakes at 120k and only because I felt like it, there was still some meat on the pads. The car is my commuter and rarely goes over about 45 mph. Plus I try to keep up with maintenance, including tire pressure and keepong them rotated.

I don't remember the exact mileage when I put the Coopers on, but its at 146k and these are only the second set of tires, and Ive owned the thing since brand new.

Its okay, the money Ive saved on tires and brakes has gone towards all the other b.s. that breaks on it. Fortunately the turbo, cam phasers, and first valve cover were done under warranty. But I had to put a radiator, 2 more valve covers, and an intake manifold on it.

And the reason for the valve covers, and the intake, is the stupidly designed PCV system has valves built into those components and when they fail you have to replace the whole thing. So instead of a $3 check valve, its a $70 valve cover or $155 intake manifold.  Yay!

Wow, that’s stupid. My pcv on the Tundra is few bucks and few seconds to replace.

Yeah, I don’t know why it needs to be so complicated. Stupid GM.

Of course my Volvos don't even have PCVs, they use a "flame trap" system that is way more complicated, and requires disassembling half the engine to service. At least the parts are relatively cheap. But I had to pull the intake manifold off the 850, and all that entails, which was a huge hassle.
