So my buddy let me ride his motorcycle today. It was not the best bike to start out on but boy was it fun!
It was a Honda ST1100 sport touring bike. Like this but lack.
It’s and old bike that he’s owned for 12 years and had dropped twice so he wasn’t too worried about it getting banged up. He let me and my brother in law both get our first real motorcycle rides EVER.
Only rode about 4 blocks, probably only got up to 20mph. I don’t want to talk about how many times I stalled. I did have fun, I do want to try again.
Riding this 650lb, 4 cylinder, manual motorcycle is was a very different animal from riding a Tomos moped lol.
My brother in law, myself, and another friend are all planing on taking a motorcycle training coarse in the near future, purchasing my own bike will probably follow shortly after.

Had a work colleague with an ST1100 years ago... it was an awesome sport touring bike.

It does seem like a great bike. Not what I’m looking for tho. Too big for a fun around town bike. Especially for a beginner like me.

Funnily enough, I just stumbled upon one of these on FB Marketplace a few days ago. I quite like the way it looks.

My buddy loves his. His dad has one too that he’s put like 200,000 miles on, about half of which were pulling a camper

Yeah the only complaint I’ve heard from either of them is that the factory seat isn’t very comfortable. And for riders under 6’ it’s a bit tall. I’m 6’1”, The one I rode had an aftermarket lower seat and I could flat foot it fine, but My BIL is 5’10’ and he wasn’t.
It’s really not so much the hight as the width. With that V4 in front of you it’s a very thicc bike.

That probably wouldn’t work for me then. I’m 6' tall, but I’m all torso. My legs are rather short. I’m kinda built like a weeble.
