I’ve found that I enjoy going out of my way to find really cool downhill rides to do. This ride I did a couple weeks ago already but it was fun enough to repeat the same thing again. Fun fact, the peak in that photo is the one that I hiked yesterday.

This time I already knew what to expect and so I had a much easier time biking through it. Last time was more breaks and more getting thrown off the saddle on some rocks. So I guess that’s improvement or just better luck this time around! And then the downhill was lovely as it opened up to the wide ocean views and cooler sea breeze. I nearly ate it at the bottom once when I got overconfident around an easy looking turn. But thankfully I recovered and didn’t slide off a cliff.
A lovely day! I do desperately need gas in both cars. So I should go into town eventually. But I'm thinking I do that early morning to avoid the holiday crowds. I'm pretty sure every motorcycle in the state of California is out right now on the PCH lol. I've also seen/heard quite a few expensive cars go by. A group of lambos, various brightly colored Porsches, among others. Going up the hill to get home, I was Canyon carving with a boxster in front and ghetto looking s2k behind me. Always fun to spontaneously come across all of that!

Me too. My scenery wasn't as pretty. But it was good to get out.

If I could bike uphill and run downhill on trails I’d be peachy. Not a fan of downhill riding. Or uphill running, at that.
Beautiful scenery though!

That sounds the worst haha. Why would you not like downhill riding? Ive got a regular route I do where I park at the bottom of the hill and leave my bike at the top at home. I walk up and then ride down. Riding down is the best part! And pretty much the only reason why I kinda like biking. Hiking downhill just sucks but biking is actually fun.

Figured out at age 30 that I have a lazy eye and lack depth perception. Broke a lot of bones in the process. I can’t really handle obstacles coming at me faster than I can move without technology.

Downhill on something other than a XC bike is way fun. Downhill on a road bike is still fun but not in anywhere near the same ways. I enjoy both immensely.

Valid reason! Sure is sketchier going downhill than up. But as an avid skier it only makes sense that I enjoy biking downhill. I figure its not really any more unsafe (barring traffic running me over). As long as my brakes dont stop working I am always riding well within control anyways.

I crash quite a bit skiing and riding too. There’s just a lot more to hit on the bike. Usually I think I’m in control until I’m lying in pain on the side of the trail somewhere.
In hindsight, it took some time to figure this stuff out driving but I was able to be cautious until I learned how to judge relative speeds. With everything else I just jumped in the deep end and paid the price.
