I am looking for new tires for the Fit. They are tiny - 175/65/14

Most places don’t really stock anything in this size, so I’ll have to order.

I am seeing a bunch of brands I never heard of. Are these Chinese junk, or good enough for a barely driven car?

Barum - Brillantis 2 ($43 ea)

Westlake - RP18 ($48 ea)

Ariz onian - Silver Edition III ($59 ea)

Cheapest brand I’m aware of is Toyo Extensa A/S II for $63 ea, or Kumho Solus TA11 at $64 ea, or Cooper Evolution Tour at $65 ea. They also have Hankook Kinergy ST H735, Falken Sincera SN250 and Falken Pro Touring A/s, all under $70 ea.

Is there a good cheap AS tire that gets recommended on the low end, sort of how K02 is a default for off-road?

Barum are a Czech company. My brother ran several sets on his Corolla without issue.

You can always get tires online :)

The best all-season tire made in your size seems to be the Vredestein Quatrac 5 as it is a 3-peak all-season

You can also get Cooper , Yokohama , and General in your size

And remember, DT will install tires bought online from DTD

Discount tire is where I am looking. Buying online, paying for shipping, then paying for installation locally - it rarely comes out ahead. Only way would be to buy mounted wheel+tire combo and install on my own. I have toyed with the idea of buying some nice 15" wheels and tires, but it just feels stupid investing money into this car.

That is good to know. I seem to remember the name form my days in Serbia, I just presumed they were bought out by someone for name only. In any scenario, they are probably a Chinese-made tire, but I can just buy DT warranty.

I usually use thetirelab.com that is listing multiple reviews, for example for the Barum Billantis 2 .

Keep in mind that cheaper tires might also have a shorter lifespan (not to mention how their grip, handling, gas economy and noise is on various conditions) so it depends on if you plan to drive much on those or not.

Tires on lighter and slower car are obviously less critical but sometimes paying a bit more (especially if you take into account the price of the tire change that is the same) might land you with something sensibly safer, nicer to drive on and possibly longer.

Don’t know the price in the US but it seems that you can have some better tires than the ones you listed for the same kind of budget with online sellers (in here the shipment is usually free for 2 or more tires and moun ting tires on a small shop is the same if you buy tires from them or come with yours ) , i would probably go for a model from a “value” established brand such as Falken, Kumho, Sava (or a “premium” brand if the price is similar).

You can order from DT and they ship directly to the store of your choice. They will call you when the tires arrive, usually within a few days.

I guess it is really no different than just calling the store. Same website, same prices.

Copper are US made? I had no clue. I might pick them just for that.

So weird to see Sava thrown into the mix here :). I am from Yugoslavia, and am used to Sava, but they are completely non-existent on US market.

I’d recommend getting wider wheels, it makes finding tires way easier and you’ll have a ton more choice. I run 6.5" wide wheels on mine with 195 wide tires. I personally have Toyo Proxxes summer tires on but you can find anything in 195. Also, I thought that stock Fit tires were 185? I know my 2nd gen was

They are mostly made in Brazil from what I’ve seen. I’ve actually got some on the Lancia right now since they’re one of the few companies to make tires that fit :p

They are essentially Continental's budget  brand.

I bought tires for my Fit recently and what I got were these:

https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?message=singleSize&tireMake=General&tireModel=AltiMAX+RT43+%28T-Speed+Rated%29&width=175%2F&ratio=65&diameter=14&autoMake=Honda&autoYear=2008&autoModel=Fit&autoModClar=&minLoadRating=S&minSpeedRating=S&cameFrom=selectOE&partnum=765TR4AMRT43

They’re a good all-around tire that doesn’t cost too much, is rated well by Consumer Reports, rides smooth and have a decently long tread life.

And if you live in a place where it snows, this tire outperforms some of the el cheapo snow tires.

In the past, I tried el cheapo brand tires and there almost always seems to be some sort of issue that makes them crap and I’d find I’m replacing the tires again within 2 years.

It’s first gen. I don’t want to spend money on this car. It’s just a stop gap before we get something new.

I’m very tempted by Coopers. I Didn’t know they were US made.

TBH, considering the price point tires of this size are at I would find out what the best tire is for where I live (no, light, or heavy snow, same with rain ) and go with it. Any car is only as good and safe as the tires you put on it.

How good or bad your tires are may well be the deciding factor between a near miss and an accident. Consider the additional money spent a premium for “not having an accident in the first place”-insurance.

Tires are one of the most im portant safe t y features on your car. Don’t try and save money there.
