The Sprudels were apparently both a local Negro League team and the high school nickname, both from the local hotel.
I’m on my way to hike some light trails at Patoka Lake in southern Indiana. Hope everyone’s having a good holiday weekend.
Addendum : interesting one-lane bridge nearby.

I’ve heard of Wiesbaden, but never Weisbaden. Google has never heard of it either.

I always find myself pausing and thinking for a second before crossing one of those old one lane bridges (I know I came across one near Rising Sun years ago), especially with them having such a well defined patina.

I wouldn’t want to walk across that bridge. One laners are perfectly fine in most cases but the proximity to a different intersection might prove problematic.

West Baden Springs Hotel is one of those places I always wanted to check out, but something else always got in the way. Their high season rates were also a bit much.

The first car exhibit I ever attended was under that dome when they were wrapping up renovations and preparing to reopen after rediscovering(!!) it, when it had nearly collapsed.
It’s amazing to me that such a massive structure could be lost behind foliage, and lost to memory.

I just think its remarkable that they were able to save it after so long abandoned and turn it back into what it was intended to be. The Bedford Springs resort in Pennsylvania is another one, not as impressive an achievement architecturally but, looking at the pictures of when it sat vacant for 20 years, its amazing they were able to bring it back.
