You can see Bass Lake below us. This is a pretty short hike, but one of my absolute favorites in our area. It is at about 4000 feet, so it stays pretty cool, and much of it is in the woods in the shade. Plenty of fresh, cool, flowing water for Toby to drink along the way. If you look closely, a couple of shots show PG&E crews hiking in, probably for dam maintenance. Snowmelt has the falls and the creek running hard right now. See the sign in the first shot? There has already been a death from someone who fell in the fast flowing water and drowned. Another death was narrowly averted when a guy got stuck in a swirling pool after he fell in trying to cross the creek , but an off duty firefighter who had a rope pulled him out and saved him. When I got home, I took a few pictures of the carport, because my little fleet makes me happy.
I am glad we went today. I am going to get up early tomorrow and take the Ducati out, because it is going to be miserably hot this week. Lows will be in the 60s and 70s, but highs are Monday at 100, Tuesday 106, We dnesday 109, and Thursday 110 before we get back into low 90s next weekend. Low 90s is a little more normal this time of year. We get 2-3 weeks every summer with highs over 105. We are fortunate that mornings and evenings stay nice, and we are grateful to have the pool to get through these times.
After my ride tomorrow, I have some wrenching to do; just little things. I have a stuck rear brake on the Stella, and for some reason the kickstand on the Monkey won’t stay up. I’m grilling fresh swordfish tonight. Life could be a lot worse. I hope you and yours are healthy and happy.
Oh, before I forget. I am looking at mirrorless cameras as an upgrad over my DSLR. Any suggestions?

So to be safe with that sign, you gotta bring someone you don’t care for (like a dairy farm Union leader, lol just kidding). And then toss them in the river so that the one person per year quota has been met. Then you are Scott free to be as dangerous as you want! Looks like a lovely day before the heat wave rolls in.

I love those Rocky steep hikes, especially along creeks. I can’t say I have anything quite like that nearby but it reminds me of Little Kennesaw (pictured) with a dash of Stone Mountain (literally just a mountain made entirely out of sheer granite).

Great pics! That looks like a stunningly beautiful trail. If I lived there, that would be a daily adventure. The Ducats really looks like a monster of a machine next to the Toyota. A carport to be proud of for sure.
Hi Toby!
