*Well, not really. It’s running again but no better than before. Still pig rich, lifter is still knocking away, but the fella who’s doing the brakes can sort that out.

So, what kept it from running?
A myriad of things. We replaced the coil and the plugs, which may have been the initial problem. Then dumped some fresh gas (87 octane- I’m sure the 10.25:1 454 is thrilled , but it’s all we had) and it sputtered briefly.

Finally, we checked the little electrical connections (for ignition) to the coil on the side of the cap.

Success!

The car is nice and all, but the real question is what the heck is going on in your neighbor’s yard?

Kinja'd!!!

I’m assuming that’s some sort of weird statue, but why would they put that there? Are they trying to tell you something?

I think it’s holding a plant on the other side. She’s actually a really sweet elderly woman.

Thank you! It’s kinda like your Mustang- solid body wise, but I’m terrified of what’s under the top.

Thanks, so do I. When I backed it out, you could just feel the rumble of the engine, and just... man.... I need to drive it.

That’s a pretty Camaro.  Nice progress, can’t wait to see it run.

Thanks! Now if only I could actually get it *fixed*. That lifter (i’m desperately hoping for a miracle in the cam being okay and all but one lifter being fine as well) and the brakes are not long for this world.

You and me both!

I’ve driven it twice, both times for less than ten minutes. I’ve been waiting to go on a real drive behind the wheel for 15 years now.

No kidding! The torque on this car is insane. And to think, that’s with it running wrong.

It’s gonna be so sweet when it’s ready for the road...even better if you can get someone to record some rolling video.

I have a suction cup camera mount, I just need a decent (and cheap) mic for the phone because said mount covers the mic on my phone.

I did not. I will this winter. I’ve been meaning to the last couple of years.

etha no l is garbarge for carbs. I start adding with fill ups in oct, so by Nov I know its fully mixed in the tank and through the fuel lines up the engine.

I’m feeling the F-body (got a 2nd and 4th gen), but man I can’t keep my eyes off that Fox. The fat tires on stock wheels looks awesome.

It’s a total blast. Probably the most fun I’ve ever had in a car. The tires in the back are 275/60/15.

T5 or AOD? Got some bolt ons? 10 minute tune up? Gears? Suspension? I grew up on 5.0 Mustang and Muscle Mustang & Fast Fords so the old 5.0 will always be a favorite of mine.

T5. Engine’s completely factory except for a 65mm TB, and the old school holes in airbox trick.

The trans has been rebuilt, I don’t know what ratio first and second gear are, but they’ve been changed. Hurst billet plus short throw shifter.

3.55 gears

Home made subframe connectors.

The key is the muffler delete. It’s still running the stock H pipe and headers, but is straight piped after those. It’s actually a nice, docile little rumble.... until you smash the gas pedal to the floor, at which point it’s a crack of thunder.

It’s got a couple suspension tricks in the back but I’m not sure what. My grandfather set it up years ago- he’s owned it since ‘93 (It’s an ‘89).

I’ve got more posts on it.

Right now, I’m kinda taking it easy on it, because it’s going to need a throwout bearing soon- Which reminds me, it’s got a stiff aftermarket clutch and flywheel.

I just dug through your posts. Grand National AND a Fox body? Man you’re my hero. Not to mention the Camaro and Chevelle.

I had a similar set up in my ‘95 5.0 Mustang. I love my ‘98 LS1 Z28, but the 5.0's were a lot more fun to tinker with. Short belts, playing with the timing, messing with vacuum lines to make it sound like it had a cam, swapping catbacks, scoring cool hoods and wheels for cheap.

It sounds like that one is done up with with the old school tricks. I’d leave it mostly alone and enjoy it. I think 225-250 HP is a lot of fun on the street. You can really wring it out and give it hell without going too fast.

Very coo. Thanks for taking time to fill in some details.

That’s precisely what my grandfather was aiming for. You can beat the absolute piss out of it without issue.

If anyone should be your hero, it’s him! It’s had this setup since at least 2003. Probably earlier.
