Holy crap you weren’t kidding. Best Overall: “

CONS

The weld quality may be poor, and they may arrive bent out of the box. They may also break within a short period of time"

D isappointed that their “best overall” selection does n’t even have feet . It’s become the very first thing I look for in a good set. Jack stands are pretty simple, and don’t need a whole lot of “features”, but that little bit of extra metal welded on makes a huge difference, particularly when working on gravel. For a manufacturer to skimp out on that i s kind of a deal-breaker for me.

Right?  “These are our recommended jack stands.  They’re great except they suck and sometimes they’re shit.”

Heh, yeah I looked at T he Drive’s spring compressor recommendations, and it certainly felt like they just read some product descriptions and reviews on Amazon.

They didn’t make one that failed all over the place their top choice though...

I thought The Drive was a real website, not just a content farm.

Apparently of the three they mentioned, they liked this one the least, despite it being the only one they say the welds are good on, because the freaking paint arrived chipped.

That seems like a fundamental fault in the purpose of jack stands...

I switched to these because someone spent more on a pair of jack stands that I would around my birthday last year. Also all of my cars require some sort of adapter for most areas so the flat tops are helpful.

My theory is, you have a car that weighs a ton and a half and you're splitting the load of half of that car between a pair of three ton or six ton jack stands, you've got some margin in there...

You do, but the HF recall is not for structural collapse, it's for the pawl lock slipping out of place, causing the vehicle to drop down.

Would not be good. I have a pair of those 3-ton Harbor Fright minis...

Better trade them in then. Definitely not worth the risk.
