I only know of B udgiebecause of a friend’s older brotherhad an encyclopedic collection of old metal. Nazarteth (only one of the old boys left) Were always popular in western Canada, You still hear Raz-a- ma-naz on the radio from time to time.

Budgie have been covered twice by Metallica, once by Maiden, once by Soundgarden, and a couple of times by others. I think it’s fair to class them as a musician’s band: limited exposure, limited label backing, and production that didn’t always do them favors, but unique and influential.

Kind of like Beckett, but longer-lived.
