The first-gen Camry hatchback is awesome! Stop the hate :o)
oooooo that’s actually a rare hatchback with the sunroof! It might even have the cool digital dash
I used to have an OG Camry, but sadly, mine was the sedan and didn’t have the sunroof or the digital dash :(
But it did have the flat-bottom steering wheel and a cool gas gauge that magnified a little when it got below a quarter

Ticking all the right boring boxes :
“Classic reliable cheap car”
“not very hard to drive”
“beautiful clean” with a rusty front panel
4 cyl inders with an automatic from the 80s

Looks like a potential NP, these are somewhat rare anymore, although I do see one on occasion locally.
I suppose the new world version of this is a Venza or maybe a RAV4.

This is a momentum car. You basically floor the gas pedal and let up when you get to your destination. You might have hit the speed limit two times while gaining speed on a downhill.

We still have a 1983 Subaru in Red Lodge, my aunt lets visitors use it. Still going, I flogged it on dirt roads in the summer when I was a teenager.

Fun fact: the doors on the hatchback are about 1- 1.5 inches shorter than the sedan. The window frame and glass are shorter.
Source: I had an 85 Camry sedan and put hatchback doors on it. Drilled out the spot welds and switched the frames and glass.
