Is it just me or does a shorty defender look cute?

Yes. That's is a beautiful color on that defender. It's even got the Safari windows.

Right? That would be a nice car for city parking.

Pretty standard on the US Defenders. I think the only Defenders I’ve seen without them are the commercial ones.

Man I’d love me a 90 as an everyday driver. Although I’d want the 300Tdi and not the V8.

What “US Defender” are you talking about? I did see this fake final edition that was made out of an older legal age Defender that didn’t have the correct windows. As far as I could tell the real final editions all had Safari windows and they are not 25 years old.

NAS Defenders that came with hard tops? Most of the grey market Defenders that weren’t commercial versions ?

From person experience with both, yes. The 300tdi is better for efficiency, usability and is reliable. Not that powerful, but if you want a fast car, 90s Land Rovers are literally the complete and utter opposite, no matter what engine

I learn how to drive in a IIa 109, so yeah they’re not in a hurry to get anywhere quickly.

Lucky, I learnt in a 2003 1.8 Freelander. Which is better but less romantic

I remember it being less romantic and more an assault on my all of my senses. Between double clutching, the noise, sawing the steering wheel back and forth like a rally driver just to keep the damn thing from wondering off the road I was quite emotionally spent at the end of it. God I love those trucks.

Sounds like the 300tdi 110 utility wagon I test drove before immediately going for a Range Rover Classic with the same engine, just because of how... “ primitive ” Handling characteristics and road manners  of the 110 were.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the old Defender and other old Land Rovers, but unless it’s a fourth or fifth car, no way I’d own one, unless it’s a Rangie, they behave themselves on road better and you don’t really loose anything off road wise

This is very true, still... I was DD’ing a 88 to the train station to take to work in Midtown Manhattan NYC   for a little while and it was glorious. Pulling into my parking spot and turning around to enjoy the view one last time before I got onto the train.

Funny how Land Rovers never look out of place, no matter where they find themselves.
