I built this plane sometime last year, but I never photographed it... until now. It was just gathering dust on my shelf, so I figured I’d finish it up, photograph it, and finally post it.
It’s a fantasy plane inspired by WWII-era experimental fighter planes. I made it asymetrical, because why not? There have been asymetrical planes before. It can be done. And I tried to offset the wing lengths and rudder placement and whatnot so it would seem plausible. My limited understanding of aerodynamics means I have no idea if it would actually fly or not, but I think adjusting the wing lengths could make it work.
Every plane needs a cool name. I’ll name this one Clarence.
Oops, crashed...

Clarence? Clarence crashed quickly, probably because that seems like the hardest way to build a plane. It looks cool but I wouldn’t want to be the guy controlling the turret from a reasonable length away from the center of mass where it pivots during evasive maneuvers . That would increase the Gs dramatically, wouldn’t it? I’d lose my lunch quickly.

The pilot claims he was swerving to avoid hitting a Blue Jay, and Clarence went out of control and crashed. But asymetrical planes are totally a thing:

I got to play that game once before our old Xbox died... Some of those planes were really cool, and definitely influenced this one a bit.

I’m not sure Clarence can sustain prolonged flight because of how short the distance is from the front to the tail. It seems like it would make it unstable to vertical gusts.
Great building though!

Are you on Flickr by any chance?

It looks like something out of Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Yes, actually. But ever since Flickr was bought by Smugmug, it’s all gone downhill. They imposed a 1,000 free photo limit, which I had already gone well beyond, so I don’t do much on Flickr anymore. You can still look through if you want and see some of my older creations, though : https://www.flickr.com/photos/134740877@N04/

That wing-mounted gun made me think of the Bell Airacuda. There were crewmen in each of the nacelles with the cannons, but their primary job was to load the guns.

It appears that Clarence May have had clearance, but Victor gave him the wrong vector, and Roger didn’t verify the vector before giving the roger.

Despite the propeller and tail I’m getting a big Star Wars vibe, very cool
