The buggers are EVERYWHERE at work. It’s bad enough that when we got the company’s boiler plate safety briefing paperwork for subcontractors the first thing we added was a line about needing to be mindful of groundhog holes wherever you go.
I think the only logical solution is something like this.
I mean, we already have a vac truck. I can’t imagine suggesting someone needs to get into it to add the padding so they’ll only be stunned when they are sucked up. The things that truck has seen are not pleasant.

It’s like a carnival ride for prairie dogs! They can’t possibly but much more robust than a groundhog, can they?

Groundhogs are very tough critters. That being said our vac truck has a lot more power than what they’re using. We’d need to be very careful during initial testing to prevent unplanned injuries.

It sure would be a shame if someone accidentally put the hose over your exhaust pipe, accidentally dropped the end in their hole and let it idle for 2 or 3 hours.

The groundhog vac would be much more fun. Plus it avoids that whole rotting carcass smell stage of things. There are dozens of holes and quite a few are near occupied buildings.

I generally go after the bastards with an air rifle. I hit one last week and I thought I had him dead in his tracks, but when I got to the place I shot him, there was a blood trail leading into the nearest hole :/ the coyotes were close to the house last night, I’m pretty sure they’re attracted by the undergroundhog corpse smell :P

I have a nice 1200fps pellet rifle. Working on a military base makes using it a bad idea though.
I haven’t used it on a groundhog, but it does a fine job on squirrels though.

Used to have them outside at work. It would be funny when humid and you see this featureless ball of fluff walk by in the grass.

I’m partial to the plastic explosive groundhogs myself.
