On my road trip to Montana last year, I received a nice souvenir of a broken windshield. I used one of those 3m kits from wally world to “fix” it and it held steady for about a year and a half. But suddenly within a day it went from this:
To this:
And it was still growing so it was finally time for a replacement. I had put it off since I didn’t feel like spending the money and it was not growing anymore. And the first quote I got from safelite for $385 still had me questioning the idea. But then I shopped around and found quotes for $325 and $285 from local mobile services. These seemed like much better options and I was about to pull the trigger. But then I got a recommendation to a shop I could go to and get it done same day for $185 cash. SOLD! So assuming the glass doesn’t fall out or leak, I’ll be happy with that purchase.
Since FedEx still hasn't delivered my new tires for the miata I'll be driving this around taped up for a few days. Supposed to rain tomorrow as well so that will be a decent test of the windshield sealing at least.

Good call avoiding safelite

Wow, that’s insanely cheap. Great deal (I’m someone who’s had to replace way too many windshields in my life)

Yeah I thought the $300 mark was a decent deal. So I'm pretty happy! Hoping me finally getting this replaced doesn't mean it just happens again.

Yeah I was confused why the reviews on Google were so bad for them. Found quite a few places with dozens of five star reviews at cheaper prices.

Nice. I got the rainX brand repair kit. I just got done applying it. We’ll have to wait and see how it does.I’m guessing it’ll crack as soon as below freezing temps hit. Which could be like tomorrow the way this years been

I did it myself last week end! 150$ for the window shipped to my place, 3500 yen for the removal kit and another 3000 yen for the glue. Everything seems fine now!

It's wild that paying someone else to do mine cost about the same, I guess Impreza windshields are cheap.

Just had my 06 Land Cruisers windshield replaced last Friday, it was only $195 out the door. So far it looks great and they offer to fix one chip for free and have a lifetime warranty to repair leaks.
