I just unearthed this account after what feels like years (and it probably has been, since the last time I can remember actively posting was before I left for College, and I have been graduated for over a year now).
I’m hoping to put together a post detailing my ever-changing, ever-odd cars (and the strange stories they brought) that I’ve owned since taking a hiatus from this website. That will be done in the next week or so for your reading pleasure.
Not a good night for me.
A bit of an update on me; I graduated with a degree in Public Health...and am currently working at FCPEuro. You can try to surpress a passion to a degree, but sometimes when you have one as ingrained as ours tends to be, you just have to let it lead you.
“Big Booty Judi” with the 100 horsepower that could
I currently own and daily drive a car I lust ed over many times on here throughout my younger years; a Ford Contour SVT. It’s been a phenomenal car and I adore it, but in my quest to do my first build, it’s going to be on its way out of the household. A phenomenal platform for a grip car, but too clean and too rare for me to risk tarnishing.
A driver’s car
Hope all is well despite the craziness in the world. Have a good night.

Welcome back and holy 1990s throwback! Always thought those Contour SVTs were cool. Not sure if anyone else was even selling affordable hot sedans in the US market at the time.
Best of luck in your new career, and l
ooking forward to your posts. Stay safe

welcome back! Glad you graduated last year instead of this year :p
Does that FCP employee discount make the cost of Euro
car maintenance reasonable? ;) Sorry, I had to!

Me too. I feel awful for my younger friends and everyone else forced to miss out on their last year of freedom before entering the real world.
In a nutshell, yes. Besides being able to source pretty much anything needed from either in-house or out-of-house (which goes for customers too, not just me), I have the luxury of paying for my order and going and plucking the part off of the shelf if we have it in stock. This plus the cost are the reasons I’m gearing up for a Euro grip build.
Aso, it's cool to have a work station on the other side of the glass from the TCRs :)

Welcome back! My career posting here is only like 6 months old now and my regular readership doesn’t extend much beyond that, but it’s always a pleasure to see more folks around.
Just seeing any Contour is rare, and I don't think I've ever seen an SVT. Good job keeping it on the road!

When I was more active here I always wrote about how much I adored my E36M. The day before I bought “Hippo” the SVT Contour (fairly aptly named by my girlfriend) I read some reviews comparing it to the BMW. Needless to say, skeptical.
It really is though. The wrong wheels are driven, but I trust this car in a corner more than I did the M3 given the slow progression of understeer. The power isn’t as substantial, but something about the gearing in this thing makes it feel properly quick (could also be because I came from the truck posted above). The interior is pretty good too!
I would eagerly push anyone searching for one of these to go out and do it. This one was super clean, and has 83k on it, yet it was still one of the most affordable fun cars I've owned.

Well welcome! This place kept me occupied for what must have been the entirety of my high school years. Forums are dying but Oppo lives on.
I haven’t done a ton outside of upgrading cooling. I’ve always had a tendency to get bored with cars and move on to something different, and while that was less the case in my decision to part with this one it played a role. A really good little car for what it is. I'd keep it if I didn't also want to find an apartment.

Can't complain! Good to see you and some of the others I used to converse with are still active on here. Like a strange little piston-driven family.

Thank you. Oppo still manages to get up to some shenanigans even in quarantine , so I don’t think the community is in danger of disbanding voluntarily any time soon.

Yeah it really sucks for the people graduating this year, but I suppose you can always make up for it when things are safer.

Welcome back mate!
I can’t remember if you were here when I started or not! :)
If you’d like, I have an SVT Contour brochure upstairs I could possible scan and upload for you! :D
It’s a Canadian-spec brochure though, I believe....very rare cars up here, the Contour SVT!

When you sell your Contour you should definitely list it on some Radwood classifieds.

It would’ve been around 6 or 7 years ago, but I took probably a three-year break to focus on school.
That's a hugely nice offer, thank you. I actually have my own little stash of brochures and articles on it!

I’ll see if I can find it, haha! It might not fit in my scanner, as my memory tells me it was slightly larger than most, so I’ll see! :D

Found it! Sadly it’s over-size, so won’t fit in my scanner...maybe it’s one you already have anyway...?
If you don’t already have it, I can pull out my high-res DSLR and take some pics of it for you so you at least have those? :)
