In the very small surveyed area near me it sure seemed this week produced a sizable amount of desirable vehicles from long term owners, or those very likely to become one, coming to market. This morning a 1969 Jaguar XKE 2+2 project popped up. Yesterday I found a 700hp M3. The day before a 1000hp Suburban. These are not retirees having what came oh so easy into their nest full of incredibly valuable eggs being ripped free of their clutches.

Can’t imagine what places outside the rust belt that normally see this type of stuff look like nowadays.

The bodywork is mostly done and ready for paint. Original color was British Racing Green with a sage green interior... complete original parts other than missing glass ... motor turns freely.

Okay but how much are they asking?

$18K, no attempts to pretend that isn’t negotiable.

Keep in mind vintage cars held together using whipped cream and bubble gum with candy paint floating atop them are rare here. Even in that state this could easily be the only one in the state.

Jag looks like a good way to lose 50K.

First your sanity. Then as much money as you lose you lose.

Alternately, is that on a proper gentleman’s tweed wardrobe alone?  Between shoes and scarves I see at least half that budget gone while you stand there mostly naked.

From what I know, a late 2+2 is the least desirable E-Type. You’d have to be insane to take it on. These are cars you buy after someone else has gone broke fixing it up, or find a nice driver quality original.

Doing it that way will allow one to buy the correct hats and scarves to go with it, too.

I wouldn’t be openly posting once in a lifetime finds. That was j ust one of the examples of weird stuff people are pulling out of garages that wouldn’t have seen light of day normally.

I think as boomers age on, more of these project car hells will come out of the woodwork.   On the MB side I have seen a few “ you can’t get there from here” voyages that won’t go anywhere, but aren’t abandoned just yet.

That 2+2 would probably be a losing proposition even if it was free, unless someone could DIY everything and didn’t mind working for several years.

Barrier for as they age is apparently two months of stay at home with all travel cancelled. It’s getting nuts here! $600 Roller

Probably a fair price for parts car/scrap value.   That thing won’t be on the road again.  I have a thing for Shadows, but the prices of good runners are so low that basket cases are lost causes.
