Yeah, I think this is probably spam.
However, I am intrigued to know how they knew I play trumpet.

Could be legit, no way they could find a convenient trumpet teacher in a little town like Paris.

“ These calls are likely part of what is commonly known as the “473 Scam,” “Ring and Run Scam,” or “One Ring Scam,” and the numbers displayed on your caller ID or sent in a text message are likely premium numbers. You will be charged—sometimes quite a bundle—for any calls that you make, or text messages that you send, to them."

You might find this series on a scam call center interesting/entertaining. Different scam concept but still illuminating.

Hmm. Maybe I was wrong.
The from line indicates it came from an email account provided to Verizon customers which uses their phone number as the email address. 430 is a Texas area code.
This site says it’s been searched 12 times, possibly suspicious. Then again, idk if we can trust that site either. Lol

Tell them you charge 1 million US per 15 minute lesson. Sub contract to me for 250,000 per 15 minute lesson.
I’ll handle the rest.

not sure how that scam is supposed to work. guessing maybe if you take the bait they claim they can only pay you by direct transfer and ask for your bank account info?

Ze F rench scorn such plebian instruments, made of metal out of ze ground, no? Brass is for ze Germans and colonial dogs. You see, the French favor woodwinds and violins and shit, instruments that go well with street mimes, paintings, Citroens, stripey shirts and berets .

I normally roll my eyes at this kinda thing, but the other day at the store, someone came a little close to me and said “sorry” to which I replied “sorry”.
that was it. Our only exchange was both saying sorry to each other when neither of us did anything wrong. So maybe there is something to it.

Or else, as somebody else guessed, it’s linked to some sort of texting scam with exorbitant rates if you click.

I keep getting phishing emails of sorts... but they’re being sent using a tool
by our project manager, because negotiating contact with our IT pros is one of his several hats. Mostly because
there are a couple of dumb people here who don’t know phishing emails when they see them.

At the last office I worked at, we would constantly get calls from Virginian and Puerto Rican numbers, from people with very thick South Asian accents, asking to speak to people we had never heard of, who apparently worked in different departments of the company, and then get irate when told we had no idea who they were asking for, and no we would not transfer them to another office. This went on for months, and their caller ID eventually started showing up with our company’s name somehow.
I have no idea how it was supposed to go from asking to speak to nonexistent employees at a bank to profit, but I assume there had to be some sort of point to the scam, otherwise they wouldn’t have been so persistent.

I did a similar thing with an African lawyer scam a couple summers back. I posted the entire exchange here. It was almost as good as one of Veitch’s stories.

My dad & I broke down in Algoma Mills, ON , about 4 years ago. We were driving a clapped out late-80s RV on a west-bound cross-continental drive (southern Vermont to Seattle).
Pretty much everyone we met went above & beyond the stereotype of the friendly Canadian. It was a very enjoyable couple of days in a tiny village. Breaking down across the street from Clarence’s Fish Market* was definitely not the worst place to have done so!
*Clarence’s Beer, Jerky, and Smoked Fish Market would be a more accurate name.
