Saw this at the store today. I have never seen a pinstripe like this and I hope I don’t see it again.

And they probably paid extra for it whether they wanted it or not, because the dealer told them they pinstripe all their cars, and can’t take it off once its done.

Pinstripes have long been a terrible thing outside of like Rolls-Royce, but this...
What the hell.

correct me if I am wrong, but isnt pin stripping painted on? so to take it off, youd have to sand it back and then reapply the other paint?

Looks like the striper slipped on a banana peel as he was finishing that line.

Damn, I should have checked the other side to see if that one was at least done right.

The twist is it is only like that on one side

Fun fact: one of the many, many things wrong with my family’s ‘95 Taurus was that it had blue pin striping on one side and grey on the other.

If a dealer did it it is probably just a sticker.

Proper pinstriping is painted on, but a lot of times its just a decal that you can peel off . Depends on how much money was spent on it in the first place.

sometimes dealers allow detail employees (notice I didn’t say detailers) to stripe cars...this particuar on was artistic I guess.

Thank you.
I don’t think I would have been able to sleep without that stripe removed.

It certainly can be, but it can also be a long thin sticker. On boats, they often pinstripe between different gelcoat colors on the hull because it’s really, really hard to get that joint perfect at the factory, so they pinstripe it with basically a long thin sticker.

One of the most fascinating things I saw while selling cars was watching the guy come in and paint perfectly parallel pinstripes , freehand. Not my taste but damn impressive to see done nonetheless. Sometimes he’d do fancier line work like it was nothing and it would match side to side like it had been computer controlled.
I'd screw up tracing lined notebook paper.
