Take the Mercedes-AMG 53 I6
And put it in the Vantage with the new toned down styling
Offer it with the manual or the automatic. Make the exhaust a lot less muffled so it has a sound more reminiscent of this:
Drop the price by $25,000.00 Call it the Vantage 3-Litre Sport. Then put that engine into the DBX base model until Aston has their own V6 fully developed.

The problem with modern Astons is the lack of sealed-beam headlight usage.

It would help more if Aston Martin could rebadged the Toyota Cor.....sorry, CH-R and something something something Land Cruiser maybe?
Meanwhile, GM is still a thing....how is that? And Nissan is still significant in India...

You know, that’s a great idea. Take Aston “back to their heritage”, inline with modern trends, with an epic good I6... that sets the stage to electrify.

Hi. I work for Aston Martin. We would like to hire you. Work whenever you want for a salary of $250k/yr.
That’s what I hope happens next for you.

I love the idea, but 100k for a v6 (I6 in this case) sports car is a lot. Especially considering the SupraZ4 is 40k (!) less.

>100k is not inconceivable for a 6 cylinder car , also the Supra/Z4 buyer is not the Vantage buyer and never will be

Fair, but when was the last time any person or dealer configured a 911 to be under $ 100k? it had to be a 997 lol.
It would be interesting to see what the market share of V 6 F-types is as a comparison.
Lastly, I would call 97,400 vs 100,000 slightly splitting hairs as far as cost.

Other than the fact that Vantage’s style could be a bit cleaner and more timeless, a Vantage I6 for less money would be cool, and hopefully sell well enough, and be reliable enough to be a good car for those who buy it new.
And those who buy it again later.

Take the electronically supercharged and turbocharged ingenium in-line 6 from JLR. It has infinitely variable valve lift on the intake valves using oil pressurized actuators. Very cool and underrated in my opinion.

Hi, this is my first Oppo article I’ve read. I see your good jokes on Jalopnik often. It is quite an alright idea, except the Merc I6 will never be high revving. They made the I6 with a long stroke and small bore so that it fits small engine bays, and although the engine is good, it’ll never be Aston good because of that long stroke.

Tried m ore often than you might imagine. If all the body work is coming off to get at all the wires and extraneous crap you’re removing. Why tack leather air vents onto the pile of parts getting listed for resale.
Of course they figured this out decades ago and charge you for the pleasure of not spending man hours installing something, lol.

I t does? Didn’t know that. Well, maybe it’s a pretty good idea then, but I don’t think the engine costs 25 grand less.

It doesn’t, but it must be priced appropriately for the competition from Stuttgart, an d that’s gonna require lopping $25k off the current price.
