Beautiful - you know... that really is just a scoop of rice and a scoop of mac salad away from a really nice Hawaiian plate lunch. Coincidence?

Rice, hmmm.

‘mac salad’, not sure on that or what it is.

Well, the two do seem to have some sort of kinship. The UK being the first to establish relations with Hawaii and all.

Was going to question the Oreo’s.

I see rationing hasn’t hit Jolly Old England if you are eating that well.

I’m with you now. Like our antipodean cousins we call it a pasta salad.

I feared some macaroni cheese with salad on top.  Yuck.

In my mind, and I think it is somewhat of a convention in the US, macaroni salad is more of an outdoor picnic staple made with a base of traditionally elbow macaroni and mayonnaise, while pasta salad is usually a slightly higher quality dish, with any sort of pasta, fresh  vegetables, and dressing of some sort. I really like a good pasta salad, but I do not like macaroni salad.

The first two or three weeks of the lockdown created a lot of manic buying but the supermarkets kept on it to show that panic buying wasn’t needed and that stuff will be there when needed. The first two weeks after that supermarkets narrowed down the range to streamline products into the stores. We are 99.99% back to normal.

Initially the shortage was for hand saniti ser and toilet rolls, then it was for hand sanitiser, baking flour, yeast  and eggs (due to everyone baking). The next shortage is expected to be tea bags, but I’m on it, just bought a bag of 420 tea bags.

How did someone come up with this concoction of things? Do y’all englanders get sick of this or vary it up ever with other stuff? I ordered this a bunch when visiting the UK because “when in rome” and all. Same with the fish and chips and ordering a pint at the nearest pub. Like a proper tourist on holiday!

I had a layover at Gatwick earlier this year and took the train into Victoria station just to go grab a meal with a buddy and enjoy being out of the airport for a bit. The one thing I ate was a full english breakfast again. It was also like 6 pounds  for a full plate like this, incredibly cheap!!

Ye’, ours is the same bar the pasta. It’s tubes, twists, etc... with may and salad stuffs.

They are more an office lunch item here.

There are variations on it. It’s up to the individual and their tastes.

For me a Full English Breakfast needs to have at least seven items but can have up to 15-16.

+ Fried bread, bone marrow, toast, jam, coffee/tea, breakfast/orange juice, etc...

Lol. I don’t eat like this all the time. Maybe, still more often than I should.

But hey, there’s lots of other things that could kill me sooner, especially right now.

Do you make that at home often? I cant imagine making a small quantity of that many damn things. It seems easy to do at a restaurant because theyre already making lots of lots of things anyways. But shit I try to stick to like 2-3 different things MAX for any meal just because of the added effort and dishes would be astronomical to do this many things.

Maybe once a month or other month.

Sausages and bacon can be done in the oven, the rest can be done in two 30cm pans. One pan does the potato scones and black pudding, serve, then do the tomatoes.

The other pan can start with the mushrooms, then plate the mushrooms, make the scrambled eggs in the juices from the mushrooms, serve then finally add a bit more oil the fry the beans with some fine chopped bacon.

You want to see stressed, come look at my k itchen when I’m making christmas dinner.

Well I am feeling a little tired but it’s my first night off.

Finished work at 6am, had a two hour nap then took some stuff to the local tip, had two hours sleep at 3pm but had to get up to make step-father’s dinner, then back to bed at 8-9pm until 10pm. It’s now 4am.

Glad I won’t have to personally experience a tea shortage over there.  My gut tells me that would be unpleasant.

I went out to a store over the weekend  for the first time in 2 months to pick up a couple of things Instacart couldn’t get, and it seemed like the only things that were still noticeably low were toilet paper and diarrhea medicine. I don’t know what people think a lower respiratory infection is, but there seems to be some confusion out there.

It’s been a few years since I've had a full English, and that was courtesy of British Airways.  Even that was pretty good but nowhere near the plate you have!

Magnificent as always. I know I could look it up myself, but how do you do your tomatoes? I tried frying one recently just with a little olive oil and it was decent but I wasn’t sure if it was the right way.

Cut your tomatoes in half, they sprinkle some sugar onto the open face of the tomato, take a small frying pan with a small amount of oil, once hot add the tomatoes face down into the pan. Once in I prick the back of the tomatoes a few times with a sharp knife. After a couple of minutes turn one over to see how it's caramelized, if not to your liking put back face down until browned as you like. If done to how you like, turn the rest of them over and continue to cook until they start to go a little limp in the pan. Job done. Remove from the pan. These take a while to cool down so set aside as they will burn your mouth if consumed in the first ten to fifteen minutes.
