So let’s say you have as many thousands to spend as your age , BUT you have to buy cars only from the year you were born. What can you find. No limit of the number of cars you have from 1 to what ever your budget allows.

Here’s mine.

First off I gotta have a 4the gen Civic. This one looks decently clean.

Kinja'd!!!

Next  this Corvette, I know the 90 is still the weird 4+3 trans but this color is too good to pass up. It also has saddle brown interior. It would needs some more period correct, or stock wheels tho.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Last this 454SS Silverado. Ad says the engine has been hopped out just a bit, love the wheels too.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Maybe with the 2 grand I have left over I could find a 1990 Yamaha TW200

I’m old and weird, so this collection fits me perfectly.

I probably couldn’t afford the Bulgaralpine even if I could find one, but thought it was something interesting to toss in. The Cosmo is probably pretty pricy as well, so just ignore that one as well. Hey, I know the Toyota 2000GT, Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale and Ferrari 206S were out of my budget, so I guess it’s scale versions of those too. And I’d rather have the  later 99 Turbo, but I'll include an original 99 to be somewhat in compliance with the rules.

(Sorry - too lazy, too tired and in too much pain to look up prices, but at my age I’ve got a pretty big budget...)

Alfa 1750 GT Veloce for AU$38,000. Claimed to have 38,000 miles on it...and the same owner for 20 years.

I’ll leave the remaining funds for parts and restoration...and the drowning of sorrows.

Unfortunately my budget runs out quickly on classics.autotrader, but here’s what I’ve got.

Kinja'd!!!

Command for $12k. https://classics.autotrader.com/classic-cars/1970/jeep/commando/101286234

CJ-5 with Bantam WWII trailer , which is spectacularly cool. RIP, father of Jeep.

Kinja'd!!!

$20.5k, https://classics.autotrader.com/classic-cars/1970/jeep/cj_5/101264407

And finally the big daddy, an M35 for $12k.

Kinja'd!!!

The spare change will help pay for transport and maybe the first repair.

The prices of classics, kind level the playing field. Yeah you get more money than me, but you’re not buying cars for 1999.

Also  besides the Saab’s and the Cosmo I Couldn’t name any of these

The first one is a Bulgaralpine, an Alpine from, you guessed it, Bulgaria. Fiat is a 124 sport coupe, the NSU is an Ro80, one of the very first cars powered by a Wankel rotary engine (and therefore a good example of why NSU no longer exists). The green Matchbox cars are Mercury Cougars; I had that exact model when I was a child and one of the primary reasons I still love the combo of a green car with a red interior. The comedian/ podcaster, Adam Carolla, has an Aston Martin in this combo; despite the dealer’s fear that the combination was too far out of the norm, most people like it and it attracted a ton of positive attention when it was in their showroom.

Kinja'd!!!

Life would be too boring if your color choices were limited to white, black and various shades of silver with black or grey interiors. Take a chance - live a little...

83 Mondial Cabriolet. Looking for one now. Prefer something other than red. Like maybe a nice one in black or blue.

Kinja'd!!!

And if I can’t find one I like, I will settle for a narrow body 911.

I agree whole heartedly on colored interiors. Mostly because of fond memories of my older sisters 87 740 with all blue interior.

With 43k to spend, this proved easier than i was anticipating in terms of finding stuff that interested me in budget, the hard part was narrowing my picks.

First, having a love of small Hondas, I’d take a Honda Civic ($9995)

https://classics.autotrader.com/classic-cars/1977/honda/civic/101115249

and a bike to learn to ride on (Honda XL75, $1425)

https://www.cycletrader.com/listing/1977-Honda-XL75-Enduro-5009260640

Then, a CJ5 ($7295)

https://classics.autotrader.com/classic-cars/1977/amc/other_amc_models/101017142

and an original Beetle because they were still making them so why not ($5995)

https://classics.autotrader.com/classic-cars/1977/volkswagen/beetle/100860144

An MGB ($8495), because I like the color, want a roadster on the list and everyone needs at least a little frustration in their life

https://classics.autotrader.com/classic-cars/1977/mg/mgb/100829126

A Ford Thunderbird to represent for the malaise era ($3995)

https://classics.autotrader.com/classic-cars/1977/ford/thunderbird/100986905

Finally, a Chevy C/K pickup, because if you had all the crap I listed above, you’re going to need something that runs to go get parts with.. ($5495)

https://classics.autotrader.com/classic-cars/1977/chevrolet/c_k_truck/101080583

(apparently, I have a lot to learn to get pictures onto kinja while on a computer)

Well, my options were very limited on a Craigslist search. There were only 4 vehicles that were options and one was so badly sunk in the mud I won’t even fake buy it.

The first two I actually like though. A 1980 vette with side pipes. The price is a bit high in my opinion at $17500, but I have more money than I need. Then a Mercedes SL for $7500. There’s also a project Chevy C-60 for $1000.

That leaves me plenty for a mega Cummins build for the currently engineless C-60.
