Motorcycles pulling various things
This last one isn’t technically a motorcycle, but it’s fantastic

Also, is that a Ural towing a Rokon? Jesus Christ that person could go ANYWHERE!

It’s not about going. It’s about being able to stop. I sure hope some of those rigs have electric brakes on the trailer (I’m looking at you, BMW).

That one was probably my favorite one lol

It sure doesn’t look like there’s even any room for brakes on those trailer wheels

I love the 4th pic - I went down a rabbit hole trying to build one of those 1-wheeled trailers with suspension like that a couple years ago and found myself over my head fab wise.

My favorite episode of On Two Wheels .

Precisely. There are reasons why these things are so incredibly heavy, usually loaded with literally tons of ballast and made out of impossibly thick plate steel. We had one guy get tired of waiting for proper equipment to arrive and used a little tractor meant for smaller narrowbodies to push back a loaded widebody freighter. He probably got away with it in the past, but this time he needed to make an emergency stop when another aircraft started backing out before it was safe to do so. He ended up being dragged along for the ride as our aircraft went gracefully sliding right into that encroaching DC-8...

And now I’ve gone down the rabbit hole of looking at motorcycle campers. I bet a smaller car could pull any one of them without breaking a sweat, they seem to weigh about the same as one typical American adult passenger. My Camaro has a 1000lb factory tow rating, a 400ish lb popup would be well within limits and perfect for weekend musical festivals and such, assuming those ever happen again.
Hell, a Nissan Figaro could handle something that light, which is another thought.

Excellent example!
I have enough mass to manhandle a Cherokee fairly well , but my instructor, who weighed at least 100 lbs less than me, struggled. He could get it moving, but had a hard time getting it to stop.

I was wondering about the weird shape...turns out it’s a self contained towing system that folds up at the back of the Goldwing . A company in Sweden makes them.
The Retriever is designed to minimize forces to transfer from the towing unit to the motorcycle. This is managed by the patented brake and steering system. The systems works together to eliminate the transfer of forces.

Always like the bike mounts.

I have, uh, concerns about this one

As part of a charity event I was on a team in a pull event moving a 727 over a set distance. Sure, like all teams we could easily (relatively speaking) get it moving, but you certainly wouldn't want to rely on us to get it stopped...

The systems works together to eliminate the transfer of forces.
This either means that tow dolly actually has active braking or they figured out how to beat physics. This still sounds like marketing BS, because no matter what that car has mass and you might be able to mitigate the forces felt by the bike, but you’re never going to eliminate them.

That one is pretty slick.

30 km/h max speed, only meant to tow the car out of the way on congested roadways. Looks legit, but their website no longer exists for more info.
Electric/momentum braking should be fine for short, sl ow tows.

Sidepulling of a high degree is the rabbit hole I keep trying to avoid. If you smartly equip yourself with ABS and take customization in the right direction you can get a trailer in the mix too. ACTUAL JELLOPICNIC LINK WORTH SHARING
This is a decent example of exterior styling that hasn’t been improved on much for the design shown. Possibility to spec a headlight is very exciting to me.
Passenger space can be equipped with all the modern marvels; A/C-Heat, power, power seat, entertainment options (but you’ll use a phone so why bother with anything but possibly speakers), storage options (cooler, secure bins/netting, toolbox, phone etc), Comms are standard equipment, lighting also standard, deployable sun shade/light filtering, anything you think of.
Rear storage is just as versatile. Gas tank with transfer pump (as called out in article) is a rather interesting decision to give up valuable trunk space. You are just a solar panel away from highly enjoyable travel.

Well the car has its rear wheels on the ground, so you just have to tap into those...
