Marty is dead. The kind of overpressure that would throw you back 15 feet only to be stopped by a solid object would likely kill you. At the very least his eardrums are perforated and he should be bleeding out his ears.
Where did the wagon love go America? [retorical - to taller wagons]
See, Jenifer’s dad was paving the way
Wanna know why this is a good movie? We’ve met all the main characters, we understand a lot about their motivations and flaws and are already getting to the heart of the story in less than 20 minutes.
it should also be noted that Doc Brown is a science handyman, a 24 hr science handyman at that.
“DR E. BROWN ENTERPRISES”
“24 HR SCIENTIFIC SERVICES”
“Yes is this Dr Brown enterprises? Yes I’m having a little trouble with the 2nd law of thermodynamics I was wondering when you would have time to come over and take a look at that. Next friday. hmm, can you make it sooner, my system keeps gaining energy and I don’t know why! Great. Okay. See you then.”
Reminder that Doc brown is in the DeLorean at this point...how did he get in?
Doc brown doesn’t into Remote controllers.
first off, the radio is turned off as noted by the power meter top center. Second he commands the car to go into reverse by moving the right stick right. Maybe he just maps his controller funny? (keeping in mind that wasn’t a thing then).
Nope, when he line locks the DeLorean (line lock!) he pushes the right stick forward.
Another great shot of a completely turned off controller. Sidenote: I have the 2 channel version of that controller still, the Futaba Attack-R. I’ll just say we’ve come a long way.
More importantly is this question: How?! The DeLorean is a stick shift as clearly shown several times in all movies. how is he shifting? how does he get to 88 in a single gear? What magic did he work on the crap v6 and transmission to be able to do remote control burnouts in a gear that can also do 88 mph?
Plutonium - dangerous, scary and highly radioactive.
Until it’s in the reaction chamber you have to wear full radiation suits and take extreme precaution. That single pellet could easily kill you.
These? oh don’t worry about the thin production case of several plutonium pellets just like the scary one we got all dressed up to put into the car that I kicked open with my foot...they’re fine.
So what’s Marty’s plan here? Drive around in circles until it’s time to crash into a photo booth? remembering he doesn’t know he’s turned on the time machine and has no faith he’s about to be transported back in time. seriously, he doesn’t leave the parking lot, and then he goes right for a photo booth hoping that going really fast into it will be a good idea. Also noted that a ill running type 2 wouldn’t keep pace with a stock DeLorean, let alone one that can line lock burnouts all day long then sprint to 90 in a single gear in way less than a 1/4 mile.
Also...2 Libyans. That’s all, just 2 Libyans. Once they crash slowly into the fragile photo booth and slowly fall over the threat of reprisal from Libyan Nationalists will be gone. Done and done. No need to check to see if they are still even alive and the 2 man Libyan terror cell is still a threat. After a crash like that are you kidding? Granted it is a Type 2 so maybe.
That’s all for tonight. Think on these. Don’t get me wrong, I realize this is a movie and for entertainment value and that the story is the important thing here. And by the way this story is tight, and the pacing is excellent. You’re never bored and the story is always moving forward even for a 111 minute runtime.
Maybe I’ll do some more complaining on the 50's later. Night.

None of these seem too glaring as far as Hollywood goes. I can live with them.

Libyan wet-work teams are always in squads of 2.
The PRV engine, while down on power, had the Doc Brown Science heads-n-cam, which allowed it to achieve 26.5K RPM redlines.
Next you need to address the clear signs of “insurance fraud arson” on Doc Brown’s resume. Thanks. That is all.

1. Yes, well known...but are they not going to send more.
2. SCIENCE HEADS! Why is he laboring in obscurity with skills like that?
3. Im still going with Mr Magoo syndrome . I mean he did almost burn down his garage in 1955 with oily rags.

no, they are nothing and certainly don’t take away from the excellent movie, but like homer says, its easy to criticize and fun too.

It’s a proven fact that listening to too much Huey Lewis and the News causes deafness. Just ask Huey. Therefore Marty has partial hearing impairment and his equilibrium is off so he drives like a drunken jack rabbit.

I have friends that have been sent a whole lot longer than 15 feet from an overpressure event. Sure, they have TBI’s, but they survived. America was thrown into complete disarray by what, fourteen Saudis? Two Libyans are a cake walk. As far as “ for rent” scientists go, I just gave a presentation about developing a facility to cultivate and harvest algae for use in aquaculture and nutritional supplements and I’m just some schmuck who wants to drink beer with his dog out in the desert.
The world is a strange place.

Read the first sentence. Though MJ Fox was dead and I’d missed it. Slight heart attack, for no real reason, wouldn’t say I’m a massive fan, but there you go. Realised it was just in the context of the movie.
Anywho, hoping you are all good mate. You seem to be getting some quality family time in and still working. Gotta be thankful for these things hey?

Shit, BTTF has always been flawless, and then you have to go and ask how Einstein shifted when it was under RC control.
This has genuinely affected me.

I mean, a critique of details of BTTF and you didn’t get into time travel paradoxes? Weak sauce.
But seriously... I love that movie and yet, even when I first watched it I was like “can’t he outrun a VW bus?”

I still have at least one Futaba radio in the garage, or maybe in the attic....
You’re right about radios having come a long way. Combat used to be limited to just a few planes. Now things are getting a little crazy....

According to movie 3 “ Mr. Fusion powers the time circuits and the flux capacitor. But the internal combustion engine runs on ordinary gasoline, it always has"

I think we can agree Marty would have been yelling “WHAT?!” a lot more in the movie after that.
As for Libyans, Im not saying 2 Libyans couldn’ t do damage, im questioning; was it really only 2 people involved in a plot to steal plutonium, hire an american scientist to build a nuclear device? and if so...they couldn’t hire someone else to risk their plan coming to get doc? Surely other interested parties are going to come looking for Doc.

Doing good. challenges like everyone else, but coping about as well as I can. Hoping that getting the bike back together and riding will help. Its been over a year since I rode mountain and i got no backcountry skiing in this season. A first for me to do neither in a very very long time.

fun fact, Plutonium 238 looks like this
Granted, Fissile PU-239 looks like a brick of lead. That being said, its often used in a suspension until a core is molded. Maybe doc actually has PuO2 suspension fluid that happens to be giving off lots of heat.

John Mulaney does a funny take on BTTF, if you leave aside his glaring error about who was trying to screw whom in the movie.

Off topic: can you take user JB Boin out of the greys please, and maybe even splash out and make him an author ? He’s commented in my posts a few times recently and I noticed he’s got a long comment history to be still stuck in pending purgatory:-)
