Rumor has it that Saddam’s son, Uday, murdered a bunch of people at a dinner party. So Saddam got mad and he burned down his car collection. Somehow, this F40 was spared. ( Take this with a grain of salt. My source is a Reddit comment. )

!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

Ratarosa on Youtube put a bounty to find the car, because he wanted to buy and restore it. Since its been found, Uday’s sister tweeted that anyone trying to acquire her family’s property will face legal action.

good luck to the sister trying to enforce the legal action.

saw the person with it wants 1,150,000 dollars. (clearly knows what he has)

I’m guessing in Iraq, it’s more about the clout you have than whether or not you have legal standing. People can make trouble for you if they know the right people.

They aren’t going to get $1.15 million.

That’s the price F40s go for in very good condition. This one doesn’t run or drive and needs a lot of expense before it gets to that condition.

Then there’s the cost to extract it from Iraq and import it to whatever country the seller is in, which is not the same as exporting a car from a country with a more stable/less corrupt govt.

Nothing says fun like owning property of one of the worst sadists of our era.

Forget buyers of these cars. I’m sure that are plenty of douchebags happy to own cars with infamous previous owners.

I dislike car companies who sell very desirable cars to dictators, fraudsters and people of general ill repute.

If they screen the hundreds of people and decide who get to buy these cars, surely they would know who their customer is. And they would know many other non-dictator customers will gladly take that order.

But nope.

I’m not sure of any exotic companies that specifically refuse to sell to dictators.

Dictators and other bastards are probably 1/3rd the market.

I was just about to post about that very thing. There’s a good story about it over on TheDrive.

Yeah, me neither.

Sure, they’re a big chunk of the market. But with limited production cars getting more and more expensive and exclusive, I’m sure they can all find a customer.

Cosmetically, it doesn't look too terrible, considering how it's been treated. Get it running, rub it down with boiled linseed oil, and it should be fine.

How many El Chapo shirts do you think sold in an L.A. boutique the day after he was arrested?

Hear they sold out in minutes. Even the knockoffs were flying out the door faster than they could be poorly sewn.

Obviously the answer is pay in gold and smuggle it out of the country.

Familiar with el chapo, not familiar with his shirts

I agree with the sentiment of someone desiring that specific car for that reason, but I wouldn’t blame the car for the owner.

As you would imagine, he cut a pretty fine figure in publicly distributed images of him being ushered away. Within hours of that footage being released the expensive button front shirt he was wearing became a hot commodity.  Most notably  in L.A.

I have a hard time understanding the reasoning behind that, and that is ignoring the mass murder.

I guess you never know till you examine it thoroughly. Who knows if there’s a crack in a large carbon fibre panel.

Plus, all the seals and rubber components will require replacement.

You don’t want to activate the flambe feature lol
