This video of a downhill race in Ecuador popped up in my YouTube list in between RCR farts. It's 15 kilometers of public roads, with some motor traffic still moving along . The title says “wooden cars”, more of a reference to soapbox cars than anything else since they clearly have tube frames.

So many things to see here! My first question was why they didn’t push start at the top since they clearly have push bars on the carts. Then the spin outs, the driver wearing a ball cap under his helmet, the motorcycle tires, the police escort, traffic, rough roads, pushing over the flat spots, the improvised push stick, driver swap! They seem to have thought through a lot of the problems, but I think they need to get their hands on some lower rolling resistance tires and some better bearings!
