SnowRunner, Anyone?

I’m liking it. I wanted to get SpinTires back in the day, but it was PC only. When MudRunner (the console/PC port?) came out I forgot about it. But when I heard SnowRunner was coming out in a few months, I went ahead and got MudRunner on my Xbox for the paltry sum of like $8.

Kinja'd!!!

I played the heck out of it, finished the game, and went SnowRunner came out last week I got that too. For a LOT more money. Because new game.

But I’m having a blast. I just finished all the local ‘missions’ on the first map, and now I get to start doing contract work between maps, and that sounds awesome.

I’ve been progressing slowly, as I’m still working 50 hours a week and trying to balance Xbox time with kids getting Switch time (I am also dabbling in Animal Crossing with them) so I only have a few trucks, and haven’t been to any other maps yet.

Anyone else out there playing? Maybe if I get bored with single player we could do some multiplayer stuff?

As someone who loved spintires for PC, is it worth getting Snow runner, or should I just get the cheape r mud one?

I t looks like fun, but my xbone has been relegated to streaming duties in the living room and hasn’t played a game in months, maybe years. My laptop is a work machine, so no gaming there. I do have an XBox 360 in the office....

I wonder if my wife would notice if I switched the 360 for the xbone. I’ll have to see how different the interfaces are. I tried to get her to let me hang the newer smart TV in there, but she’s a creature of habit and didn’t want to switch. :/

It is partially responsible for my lack of folding over the weekend. I’m enjoying the gameplay, although I find some of the practical  things like menu navigation to have some odd stuff to it.

No cross-platform play, unfortunately, or I’d be down (I’m on PC). I’m not one for buying games at full retail but I’ve been having fun with this so far.

I downloaded it on a what the hell moment. It sucked in most of my weekend. I spent a solid five minutes cursing the stupid game, even restarted after I got the garage because I didn’t realize you could warp into another car from your garage.........booze may or may not have helped.

Working through the first map. Sold the crappy first mission truck and spent money on upgrade for the 4wd heavy hauler and Chevy.

I’m down for some Coop at some point.

Edit: I’m on Xbox One

I’ve realized that if you don’t embrace the slow grind mentality, it will hurt your soul.

Though you already clarified that “xbone” is really Xbox One, I prefer to imagine that you have a specialized console X bone (a.k.a. cross bone). I think it’s a platform for pirates and pirate games, bearing a jolly roger insignia.

Contemplating buying a video card so I can play this.  Maybe I should try MudRunner first.

Wi thout a doubt. The “rescue giant truck from stuck spot” ones take a lot of patience. Winch, get stuck, unhook from giant truck, winch out, winch giant truck, get stuck, unhook, winch out repeat 400 times. I find it cathartic.

My kid played the hell out of Mud Runner and convinced me to get Snow for both he and I so we could co-op. It’s been a blast! The main glaring problem is that I had to start a VPN sub just s o we could play together on the same network 5 feet from each other.

I’m in love with it. Also at a similar stage where you are - finished almost all small objectives on first part of first map + went to see what the second part (the dam) is like and discover all the towers there.

This is one of those games where I just go to check it out a bit and then spend 5 hours playing. I managed to buy the International Paystar after selling the crappy stuff - it’s a huge step up. The Fleetstar is in my heart still tho.

We could play sometimes - dunno if it supports cross platform, PC master race here...

I rescued the stuck Chevy truck with the chevy truck early on. It was very much that. Currently, I have the Freestar/Loadstar...whatever truck is outside the first garage.......overturned next to the drilling equipment. Time to find out if the Chevy can flip it.

I downloaded it on my Xbox the day it came out and have played it almost every night since. Like others, I played Spintires back in the day and fell in love with the concept. I didn’t play Mudrunner but from what I have read the map is a lot bigger on Snowrunner so that’s a plus.

Once you get on the Alaska map there’s a truck you can get to that’s worth a good bit of money. I got it, sold it , and bought the Paysta r 5070. It goes through fuel faster but it’s so much easier to get through things since it’s an off-road rig. Well worth it to get that one sooner rather than later imo.

I'm down for co-op so feel free to add me. Scorched83 is my gamertag.

Snowrunner is absolutely worth every penny . As an experienced player who was able to dive right in and starting checking off missions as soon as the tutorial turned me loose on the game world, after a week the end is still nowhere in sight, leaving me to assume that there’s a couple hundred hours of content there even for us seasone d vets, and for me at least, it never gets old.

I have something of a tumultuous relationship with mudrunner. As a trophy hunter my introduction to the series came with the ps4 release where I maxed out the difficulty and began what would be one of the most maddening yet rewarding experiences I’ve had as a gamer. And w hile I strongly suggest that everyone who enjoys this newest entry, pick up the original and treat it like a sequel with the difficulty cranked up. Snowrunner is a far better place to start as the learning curve and difficulty progression are much more gradual, and the content more varied.

You can recover it to the garage for free. I also like to flip them manually for the pain, frustration and payment. I had to use my salvaged c70 I got from a field to flip my paystar and that wasn't easy. The scouts are not heavy enough unless you have the 8 wheeled tank thing from ru region that will tow/winch anything.

I agree with DrippinDeez. I have been playing this seris on and off since the SpinTires beta, and Snowrunner is the ultimate version. If you plan on playing it for more than a few weeks, I’d definitely recommend it.
