It was down Wednesday through Friday last week. More on that later, and it might be why the rear rim is nice and shiny.
So why is the old rim in a box?
Well, because Tuesday night a rock did this:
So $500 later, I got a new rim on my car. Figured I should get something else out of it besides a functional rim, so I asked to keep the old rim. Think I want to get it cut around the barrel and then hang it on my wall. On an related note, anyone know someone who could cut the barrel of a rim?

I drove past where it was two days later, and the rock was still there, albeit not in the middle of the road. I would guess it was at least 6" x 4"x 4"

They might make a run flat version, but I’ve got normal tires on mine.

The rock, I thought it was just the tire initially .

Ouch. When I saw your original post, I knew the rim had to have been damaged. Now the others need to be as shiny and clean as the new rim!

A friend works at a company that does EDM hole drilling, they’re too back logged for any secret work.

Make sure you use a cut off wheel for aluminum, the regular ones just load up with aluminum and stop cutting pretty quickly. I would think it wouldn't take long to cut with the proper eye protection and some beer.
