Despite wanting cheap Friday sushi I waited around for this package since FedEx said it would be here before the end of the day . I checked again on Saturday and this is the message I get:
Oh well...

May Day walkout might have affected that. Given the reporting I’ve seen about FedEx’s COVID response, you and I can probably afford to wait a day for our deliveries if it improves matters for employees.

I really don’t mind waiting a little extra during these trying times. However, I would like to be informed of there’s going to be a change in delivery time so I can make other plans. Lots of package thieves in my neighborhood, so I like to be around.
That desire to be there for my shipments probably also had an effect on my last job. Since I couldn’t redirect my packages from a particular pharmacy I had to be at home to sign for my chemotherapy drugs; those were the last things I wanted stolen. Now that I have no job I can be here waiting, but only if I actually have a clue when something is going to arrive.

I got a notice that seeings my order was not essential, it would likely be delayed as long as 2 weeks.
Good to know I don’t need brakes on my van to get to my job everyday....

This just reinforced some growing concerns . I n ormally buy everything locally and only get stuff shipped very sporadically.

I prefer to do that as well, even if it means a little driving or paying a little more - gotta support local businesses. But sometimes it’s just not possible, or ridiculously expensive. Part of this order consists of some computer parts that most places are selling for almost twice MSRP; the place I bought them from is only charging MSRP. I know what the ‘S’ stands for in that acronym, but that doesn’t mean I have to pay it.

Yeah, the porch pirate problem really would make accurate tracking important!
